They even used to pull off terrible performances like this against shit opposition, even with superstar teams. Nothing will ever change, they're always just doing enough to win.

I still think they'll finish the group in 2nd place at best. It might be a real possibility of Italy not qualifying for the World Cup in 2018.

Honestly, the back of the pitch is sufficient. We have enough midfielders and defensive players. What we lack right now is creativity. When your best #10 attacker is Insigne you know you have a problem.

Honestly though, why not play Giovinco? The guy absolutely skins defenders in the MLS. I understand perhaps not playing him vs. Spain, but against Macedonia? He should definitely play. At the very least, he has shown that he can destroy weak competition. 4-2-4

Insigne----Giovinco-----Belotti----Candreva
-------------------------------------------------
---------Verratti----------De Rossi-----------
------------------------------------------------
De Sciglio---Bonucci--Barzagli-----Darmian

against weak competition...
Insigne has 4 assists in 7 games in the league this season, last year he had 12 goals and 10 assists. He's really not as bad as everyone likes to for some reason pretend he is.

Italys wing forward selection is fine I'd they use the talent and in proper formation, it's the CFs that's been lacking.

Oh I know. But having an Insigne as your best #10 is a problem, when you've had a legacy of Baggio, Del Piero, Totti. Even Cassano, at his best (which wasn't often), was miles better than Insigne. That being said, he is our best creative attacker and he should play IMO.

Ventura needs to use the 4-3-3. Only formation I can see Italy playing consistently well in, even though he has to go out of his comfort zone drop one of the 3 Juve CBs.

Abundance of wide defensive and attacking options, plenty of midfielders...but as you said lacking a true class CF...if only Balotelli wasn't a retard. Hopefully this stint in Nice is the catalyst for him to come back into the team.

One thing is clear.Ventura is no way a proper coach for Italy .He can coach the likes of Torino and similar second rate teams but no way NT.Candreva was the flop of the match. Was jogging all the time on the right flank. Ventura did nothing for that.Verati also sucks. And that headless chicken Immobile although scored the winner needs a thousand chances to score.Very pathetic display against a very weak opposition. No midfield at all.

Yeah, 4-3-3 is the way to go. Insigne, Balo, Candreva upfront, Marchisio, De Rossi, Verratti and Florenzi, Bonu, Barza/Chielo, De Sciglio. Enough to beat any team in head to head.

If Marchisio and Verratti are fit, and Balotelli keeps the form hes been in for the next 2 years, Italy might send a super strong team to Russia. Hopefully Berardi has 2 good seasons at Juve by then too
