No mid at all and a guy who could do something with a ball is not playing. Is Marco still injured? If not then Ventura should be sacked immediately for not starting him.
No forwards. most in-from are Immobile and Belotti. Not even close to their quality but reminds me of Sacchi's boys always playing and having Zola/Signori on the bench. Both who could take penalty Mr. Sacchi.

Worst 45 mins of a big game I've seen for such a long time. I've no idea what they are even trying to do. Bit of pressing might be nice. Passing to a teammate, could be an idea. Just throwing a few things out there. Italy look like the Dog & Duck. There's a technical gap between the teams but it gets bridged by things they aren't even attempting to do.
Spain don't create ferocious spells of play where you feel they could score at any moment, but on this approach the very best Italy can hope for is a 0-0, barring some horrific error or assface getting a red for Spain.

That midfield didn't let the defenders even breathe. It was a horror show, as predicted.
