Just looked at their squad from the 2011-12 season.......they had Antonioli, Eder, Mario Santana, Candreva, Mutu, Iaquinta (who was absolute crap by then), Parolo, Benalouane...and the one and only Jorge Martinez. Giaccherini actually left the previous summer to join Juve, so I suppose the title is technically still true :D

Oh, and they finished bottom of the league that season.
What a team

Arsenal fan:
lool that Italian team look depressing. Conte must hate any technical player. I hate when players like Dunga/Conte who were water carriers in their careers take their jealousy over technical players they had in their time and make their teams full of water carriers. I hope belgium slaughters them

I have a feeling we will not see much of Insigne. Would anyone say he is a bad player? no. He is one of the most talented in Italy, but he doesn't suit Conte's style. Giovinco is very similar here. I think he would have been very productive if he had played for another good Serie A team. And his year with Allegri? I think he partially wasn't played due to being behind an obviously superior player in Tevez, and 2ndly because he wasn't going to renew his contract.

Not getting called up stunk for Giovinco, but ultimately, Insigne appearing to get a limited role, is somewhat vindicating for Giovinco.

I really think Conte should drop Eder for SES against Sweden. It's a different type of game than the belgian one where they should expect to see a lot more possession and I think they could use a striker with some technique

Eder kind of sucks

You know I think if Italy had Marchisio and Verratti they would be one of the favorites but that midfield just looks so weak. As much as they were able to cover for it with tactics they still gave away sooo many passes when going forward that threatened to give Belgium counter attacking opportunities. Against better opposition this will come back to haunt them

If all goes well against Sweden I'd hope that Bonucci & Chiellini take some cheap fouls to get a late yellow. Don't want to lose either of them for a knockout match.

Belgium Coach Marc Wilmots sniped at Antonio Conte’s success. “The Italy Coach just has to rely on Juventus.”

The Azzurri opened their Euro 2016 account with a 2-0 victory over the Red Devils, thanks to goals by Emanuele Giaccherini and Graziano Pellè.

“I don’t think we did that badly and maintain we deserved a draw,” noted Wilmots today.

“Especially as we had to revamp the defence, our performance should not be underestimated.

“The Italy Coach just has to rely on the Juventus defence in a bloc, he doesn’t even need to do any work with them.”

So butthurt

and its not like wilmots relies on the wealth of individual talent he has at his disposal

 SES definitely, been in fantastic form last 6 months and works hard defensively too. Hopefully in a 343 with both Candreva and Florenzi on the right side
