Apparently, Prandelli would consider a Totti re-call if he's still in form come the end of the season.

Even if he's still in such good touch towards the end of the season (which i doubt), i don't think Totti himself would be too excited by a world cup recall. It would be Lippi 2010 all over again.
There is absolutely no need for Totti to be in the NT, but since prandelli seems determined to get Italy to play 4-3-3 i wouldn't be surprised to see it happen as his plan B formation

Not bringing him would be like Lippi 2010. Totti is a talisman and if someone like Pirlo got injured, the team would be lacking inspiration. But i guess it really depends on his physical condition at the end of the season.

Totti could be worth a gamble if he continues to play like this. My sense is though that he won't be able to keep up this form for the entire season.

The other thing is that in terms of forwards, we are likely to bring 5 or 6 max - most likely 5. Insigne, Balotelli and Rossi are a must. That leaves 2. El Sharaawy should be there if he hits form

Basically the certainties are:

Rossi (assuming he doesn't break his leg again)
Balotelli
Insigne (he should be he is too good).

Other contenders are: El Sharaawy, Giovinco, Osvaldo, Gilardino, Cassano & Cerci. Old timers who could get a look in are Di Natale and Totti.

If it were up to me, I would choose Balotelli, Insigne (youth), Rossi (middle ground), Di Natale & Totti (experience). But I highly doubt that will happen.

so many things wrong with Prandelli's Azzurri like the own goal duo of BonBon/Astori and especially playing Pirlo, Monto and Aquagirl together. Hopefully De Rossi and Marchisio stay healthy.

Prandelli and his players will when they aren't top seeds for the World Cup.

Excellent work.
Looks like they won't be a top seed. So get ready for a group of death. Probably with Spain, Germany or Argentina. They won't put Brazil with Italy so my money is to be paired with one of those.

Even though I think FIFA's ranking and seeding system for these tournaments are a fucking joke, Italy have only themselves to blame for putting in another disgraceful performance against a minnow team. Arrogant and stupid beyond all belief. Watch them draw Argentina or Brazil and cop a severe as blasting next year.

Prandelli picked a weaker and imbalanced team, so there was always the chance of that. Gone are the days when you can pick any team and put in any performance and beat the likes of Armenia, football has changed.

It definitely has, even Malta gave Italy a couple of tough games in the qualifiers.

Italy's defensive set up and shape worries me. You just always feel a major fuck up is around the corner whenever the defense is put under any significant pressure.

All of the top seeds will clearly want to avoid Italy anyway.
