I wouldn't say he has low football IQ, I'd say he's clumsy at times but it's not a regular thing. He doesn't give away a lot of penalties or get red cards and fouls less than he used to. As I said, I believe he'd be one of the best playing in a better team. When it comes to actually neutralising individual attackers, he's the best.
I also think he's the best in that area, that's his biggest strength, he could mark any Stiker regardless if he's fast, tall, skillful.., except Di Natale i guess.

Casillas: "I don't think ITA deserved to win. They were better first half, we were much better 2nd half. Draw would have been fair."

Do they really were MUCH better 2nd half? I don't think so.

Quite a lot of decent chances for both nations tonight, more for Italy. But it's a great result and should install a hell of a lot of confidence in this new look azzurri.

I rest my case :D

well, I am not just trying, I am saying it :) - he is a good player to have as the "brute" in the back who does physical job but doesn't have the intelligence/know-how to be considered a leader and a WC defender ... and this is not a function of him playing for a sub-par Juve team these past couple of season.

P.S. just saw that I am basically repeating what Dule and Alen had to say on the matter so, I guess, not all Juve fans are surprised but all surprised are Juve fans :D
He's not a leader in defense, but is WC at what he does best. And that is defending.

Cassano- "I want to thank Gigi, the Coach and my teammates for that wonderful gesture of handing me the armband."

Cassano- “I went for the warm-up and came back to the locker room to see the armband on my seat."
Cassano- "I said they’d made a mistake, but it turns out they’d talked it over beforehand to give me this amazing gift."
Cassano "Aside from being a great captain and a player, Gigi is a great man. We're next to each other on intl duty always, so he's a saint!"

Criscito, Montolivo, Xabi and Silva played very well tonight.

And for those who think Chiellini isn't WC, what do you think of guys like Vidic, Pepe or David Luiz? It's just about the type of CB and, despite those not being my favourite type, I label all of them as WC defenders.

I knew Italy would be the better team. Prandelli really sorted out the team. I always laugh at people saying Italy doesn't have world class talent anymore. I would probably take their attack over any team in Europe, and midfield and the defense is solid. I can see them, Germany or Spain winning the euro in 2012.
We'll see. This sort of thing is said before pretty much every tournament Italy plays in, so it doesn't really mean much at this point.

Oh, man, Italy are so gonna bust everybody's ass at the Euros ... and Argentina will also win the next WC considering they just recently beat Spain 4-1, also in a friendly ... oh, and Aquilani is a monster

:D
