That was a tipical Trapattoni performance by Ireland

Prandelli has to stop using his Fiorentina boys(Gilardino, Gamberini, Montolivo), they suck.

What is the point in using both Gilardino and Matri at the same time? Pointless, really.

Buffon
Maggio-Ranocchia-Chiellini-Balzaretti
De Rossi-Pirlo-Marchisio
Cassano
Rossi-Pazzini

That team would be much better.
It's not as if either team was playing their strongest side anyway, it was an experimental game, so it's not really about what needs changing tonight. Really what doesn't need changing. Still, Italy won't face many 'British' (sorry boys :D) teams like Ireland, not with that same bloody mindedness and determination in defense.

I couldn't care less about the result tonight. Against 10 defenders and they talk about Italy's cattenacio. I thought ROI defended well tonight though.

Wank. Montolivo trying to knock Ireland players out with shooting practice and Cassani trying to play crosses to the crowd summed Italy up.
Basically. Plan A for attack is to play with the more skillful forwards (Cassano) and the neat triangles, making runs off the shoulder. Plan B is to get crosses from wide areas to a centre forward (Pazzini/whoever). I'd like to see Giovinco get a proper shot in the first system, with Rossi and Cassano.

Faroe Islands beat Estonia 2-0 tonight.

Italy were saying they were like Spain after beating Estonia.

Hence my point. Anybody can trash Estonia and claim they're trying to play like Spain. It's asinine.

So "It's just Estonia" wasn't such a silly comment as some wanted to present it, eh?
Nope.

Marchisio is the worst midfielder we've raved about in years.
Very limited player, but that's what happens when expectations and hype are high.

They did play the same style football, yes. This silly argument hinges on the mention of 'Spain', nothing else.
Well of course, because Italy won't ever be able to emulate Spain against better sides. The entire premise is silly.

I actually watched the interview after the game and it wasn't Pirlo (or Pazzini who was sitting next to Pirlo in the interview) who brought up the Spain comparison, it was something the interviewer asked them.

Pirlo and Pazzini both said they are AIMING to play like Spain and admire that style of football and wish to emulate it, but Spain are on another planet at the moment.

Again, context.
Several pages and lots of crap earlier this was posted. Although I can see how the mere mention of the name 'Spain' will now be used as a stick to beat Italy with following every poor performance/defeat/draw/game where they don't make 800+ completed passes.

Who do Italy play next? Tee hee! I have a feeling that trying to beat the masters at their own game will turn out very badly. Spanish sides have traditionally come unstuck against Italian sides and Italian style sides. Even in Euro 2008 it took penalties for their great side to beat a less than great Italy. Trying to beat Spain playing in their style could be very bad.

English teams > Italian teams
Italian teams > Spanish teams
Spanish teams > English teams

Should be a nice competitive friendly at least.

Look. I'm not the one who compared Italy to Spain, you folks did. If you can't understand the ramifications of doing so then shut the fuck up!

That goes directly to you, JuveJay.
