Overall, Ventura is the best choice out of the available candidates. Could be a shrewd appointment. He has done pretty well with a fairly mediocre Torino team over the past 5 years. From Serie B, to knocking out the likes of Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League - all this whilst playing/developing younger players and making guys like Cerci and Immobile look like world beaters. I'm sure he'll look to play youngsters more than Conte did, as there is still a lot of talent that isn't being chosen for whatever reason.

Oh and he likes counter-attacking football ;)

what kind of NT could we expect with Ventura? What formation / call ups do you guys see in our 1st WC qualifier?
Typically 3-5-2. It depends on form but you can imagine the Conte favourites like Giaccherini and Eder will be gone, I expect you'll see more of the likes of Florenzi, Candreva, Darmian, maybe De Sciglio having an impact out wide. He goes with different kinds of strikers. I'd like to see the Azzurri settle around forwards like Insigne, Gabbiadini, Zaza, Paloschi and Destro. Immobile will presumably also be a central figure.

quite a ridiculous midfield. i don't rate belgium too much, but they have every chance to outplay this team. i hope conte makes his mind about parolo, éder and giak at least.

Damn, I'm actually getting excited to see Conte's Italy. Last time I had limited expectations for a Conte team, Juve went out and destroyed Parma, Conte must love being underestimated, works right into his philosophy.

Watch it go horribly now :D

wow, no Insigne, no Zaza who's been the most in form attacker, no ElShara and no Bernardeschi? Where is Florenzi?

with that lineup it gives me the impression he can't wait to get to London and get started with his Chelsea career....
