A situation like this, one could possibly say that Juve are going on the cheap. If this were several years ago. But they just dropped 122 million on two players. And another 23 million on a young prospect from Croatia
There has to be something that Allegri sees in him, that the overwhelming majority of us don't see. Heaven help me if I know what that is, but these guys have to know something.
What a miss... BTW he's having a solid game. very good offensive outlet, getting into good positions, tracks back to good effect.
Doesn't really offer anything defensively, as in tackling and interceptions, but his movement is solid.
IDK... kinda divided about this guy. obviously he's not WC and not a Pogba replacement, but he has advantages.
Maybe I'm trying to persuade myself.............

Totally underwhelming signing if true. We go from potentially the best B2B player in the world, to this dud, who should barely be 5th/6th choice for a team like ours. I'd be very disappointed in our management if we acquired him. Talk about dismantling and severely weakening our midfield, our strongest unit over the past few years
Barca's midfield also looks soft... Busquets is great but slow and not really imposing, Rakitic also and Turan is kinda grinta but not really. Madrid has Modric and Kroos, small guys and slow. so it doesn't matter, we need harmony not muscles. it could happen with Witsel. BTW for me Marchisio-Pjanic-Khedira is awesome... but I doubt it will happen consistently.
Physical strength in the midfield doesn't matter anymore. It's way more advantageous to concentrate on possession and attacking football. Refereeing nowadays is way more strict, you can be on a yellow for one soft challenge in the 2nd minute. There are endless examples of recent teams winning things with no steel in the midfield.
Look at the players playing CM nowadays. As long as you are able to press with the team and are smart enough tactically to hold your position at the right times, then you can win the ball back without even tackling.
The man in front of the CBs has to be able to put in a challenge but the other CMs don't necessarily need to be able to win the ball on their own.
