So many clubs have passed on getting witsel, like some dodged bullet. Whilst he would have been perfect for us 3-4 seasons ago. Now it's too late our standards have improved. Whilst for the rest of serie A he would be perfect.

Who is this clown ?

Witsel's prime weakness, is the complete lack of tactical sense and defensive positionning.

Herrera is hyped in every single thing i've read untill this post.

Stay in hiding please
Since you didn't even back your Witsel claim, I'll not bother with that one. As for Herrera, I can show you the opinion of the Porto supporters themselves.

I'll take these posts from the most well known Porto forum. It's in portuguese of course but you can use google translator if you don't trust my translations.

Até concordava, mas qd [qd is short for quando] vejo rumores de que estão interessados em Herrera algo não bate certo. Seria como estar a construir um castelo de cartas e qd vais colocar a última, deitas td [td is short for tudo] abaixo.

I could agree with that, but then I read the rumours they are interested in Herrera and something doesn't seem right. It would be like building a castle of cards and when you are gonna place the last one, you throw everything down.

http://www.fcporto.ws/index.php?topic=15611.10350, from the Herrera thread, don't even need to search since the last two posts (#10360 and #10361) speak for themselves.

Se chegarmos ao final desta época a dizer genuinamente "que saudades do Herrera" é sinal que as coisas correram tão mal que a direção tem que se demitir em bloco.
Translation:
If we get to the end of the season genuinely saying "we miss Herrera" it means it all went so wrong that the management has to mass resign.

Já devia ter ido...

He should've been gone already...

I could be here all night, as you could imagine, and also give you a different source than their forums too, if I wanted.

You seem to have missed that MY opinion wasn't neither an 80 nor an 8 for Herrera, by the way.

why?

juve managment have got every decition right when it comes to replacing players.

we lost del piero, pirlo vidal tevez morata and potentially pogba. thats like out best players in the last 5 years. but we still been able to compete unlike inter when they lost their players in 2011,12 etc..

i trust in beppe, nedved paratici. if they think witsel is adaquate for this juve side, so be it.
 We are competing in Serie A ffs! We are so far ahead of everyone, that even if they fucked up a couple of transfers, we'd still win this forsaken league.

Just logged in to say that having watched him the whole year he spent at Benfica makes me laugh quite a bit at the whole misconception of Witsel's value around here. He's no Pogba (duh), but he's far from the reputation he gets from Juve fans.

I see him similar to Khedira and Marchisio in the sense that he is great tactically (at reading the flow of the game and understanding where he needs to be on the pitch) and he keeps the ball rolling rarely giving it away. Has some moments of magic in him, but, like Marchisio, usually doesn't show that part of his game too much.

His competitive attitude has to be questioned (I still don't understand his move to Russia), but technically he's good. People probably judge him based on common misbelief or international football (even though I actually think he did good both in 2014 and 2016), but, I mean, if Juve is linked to him and were to get him, I think Paratici's opinion deserves some credit here?

He wouldn't be replacing Pogba anyway, he'd just be that extra midfielder needed because of Khedira (and now Marchisio)'s injuries. Pogba's replacement is already with the team.

By the way, I live in Portugal and the seemingly flavour of the week Herrera (who is great at international footie) can actually be such a big let down for Porto that their fans would gladly sell him off. Really inconsistent and really not a good passer or good user of the ball in general. I like him, kind of, I like his spacial awareness without the ball and I guess he could even be useful at Juve in the right context, but just thought it's kinda funny seeing the disparity of opinions between Witsel and Herrera since the first was much more of an 'hit' in Portugal rather than the second. Matic was a bench player when Witsel was at Benfica, too, although I have to admit he grew a lot since these years. Even if I never liked his (kinda careless) style.

If I could choose though, I'd say scrap them all and go for João Mário. He didn't have a great EURO, but he really is total class. He's not a winger, as the italian media would make you believe.

Bottom line, there are a few better targets than Witsel on the market, but Juve can also easily do much worse. Like Sissoko or Matuidi, for starters. Or by simply sticking with the current midfield backups, since numerically that area is set until at least 2 of Pereyra, Hernanes, Lemina and Sturaro get offloaded. And no, Lemina is not better than Witsel. Not by a country mile.

Now back to my ocasional lurker status! :D
Kindly post more, thank you

Witsel only wants to join Juventus reports Gazzetta dello Sport. He is in pole-position to become Juve's next signing.

    Welcome Axel :baus:

Thanks for your insights on Witsel and Herrera @Flamez

When it comes to Herrera, I'll be the first to admit that I'm a muppet when it comes to that guy, as I have solely based my opinion of him from what I've seen on Youtube.

What you're writing about him is pretty worrying.

    Who are the 4 CM's ? :claire:
Marchisio, Khedira, Pjanic, Pogba/new guy, Wiesel

if Asamoah is fit and back in form (slim chances of this happening) then Wiesel is 6th imo.

btw, @Zacheryah, can you open his thread if wee sign him? :D

as a DM? i thought that isnt his preferred position and that hes better as a b2b mid :boh:
I think he's a B2B as well but dint he play DM for Belgium ? His versatility is probably one of the reasons we want him. Thats why we are linked to Matic as well as he can play various roles.
