Probably you are using programs that do not support animated gifs

i use ACDsee and adobe when ACDsee fails

What do you use with Adobe? As far as I know, Photoshop does not support animated gifs, it reads gif files as still images.

adobe 7....but only for still images..

but i am terrible with photoshop...i tried ti design a theame for my mobile and failed miserably...

for gif images just acut the clip and convert it using the gif converter....

With Photoshop comes a program called Image Ready. You have to use that for working with animations, you can resize, crop, do whatever you want with them.
