Crap or no crap. It's a great conversation starter, and as far as I'm concerned a rather intriguing subject.

i used to believe in it a long time back, but now i think its a pile of junk.the idea of planets determining your future or your personalities is pretty lame as far as im concerned, though it does make for very interesting reading.

i don't believe in astrological predictions.
i may read them, but i never believe in it.

but i do believe, that persons who are under the same astrological sign, have some things in common.
for ex,if i have a converstation with someone,i can ALWAYS understand, that he's gemini like me!

Some people believe that as you are conceived, an unmeasurable, invisible link is formed between you and a star in the sky..

I don't believe much in it, but I find that very interesting..

I love the concept of people believing in astrology. The idea that there are only 12 different varieties of life experiences all of humanity can have at any given time cracks me up.

Of course, being someone who has long been into amateur astronomy, I also love the fact that astrology followers often have no clue that there really are 13 signs and not 12. The ecliptic plane of the zodiac (which marks the path through all the constellations that all the planets, sun, and moon passes) goes through a leg of the constellation Ophiuchus, the serpent-bearer.

So technically, given that zodiac signs of astrology are designated by the constellation where the sun resides during the day of your birth, people with birthdays between Nov 30 and Dec 17 are really Ophiuchus and not Saggitarius, and they don't even know it.

That really messes up with a lot of heads. :D

I hate to generalise, but I find women make up the majority of people I know who profess any belief in horoscopes.

Yes, I too think they're rubbish, and that was before Greg enlightened me to the existance of Ophiuchus. :)

I believe that the time of the year you were born can influence your character.

The first sensations of a baby born in the winter or summer will be totally different, and will certainly have some influence on it's future life.

But that doesn't mean one can predict what will happen in the days to come, due to the stars or planets... that's crap

No, its never a specific event or action that a star links to you. It's more of a generalisation. For example, in India, tradition includes a belief in the birth chart that takes into account the planetary positions etc at the time of birth of a baby. And that supposedly influences the course of the life of that individual. As far as my knowledge goes, after having checked with someone more enthused with the subject, I did find that what the stars associate with the individual are just generalisations. And eventually its only up to the individual to follow the course of action and do something about it. So, in effect if my birth chart predicts the riches of the world for me, yes, it would be a possibility, but I wouldnt get there if I sat on my ass doing nothing about it. I'd have to go out there and accomplish it. So its only a direction, in a sense, nothing more.
