Kwadwo Asamoah’s Ghana took a step closer to the African Cup of Nations knockout stages with last night’s 1-0 win over Mali.
The Black Stars emerged victorious at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Stadium thanks to Mubarak Wakaso’s penalty struck shortly before half time. Asamoah featured for 76 minutes before being substituted in the latter stages.
The Black Stars can guarantee their place in the last eight with a win from their final Group B encounter against Niger, to be contested on Monday 28 January.
