When was the other one? Olympiakos? i dont think that was decisive, this one certainly was a bad bad miss! i cant believe it was such a $#@!ty PK
That could have been very decisive. Had he scored we would have had a goal advantage over Olympiakos meaning we would have gotten through even though we'd have lost against A.Madrid at home in the final game. We could have also taken more chances to beat them at home to finish first in our group. But because he missed we played very conservatively in the final game in fear of conceding and falling out of the tournament.

There's a very good chance that we won't see him back to near his best until he's had a full, normal off-season of rest/training.

I can't believe that some are ready to ship him out after 6 months of being off form -- off-form while he's recovered from a knee injury that was made worse because he was trying to give his all for club and country, despite being injured (club and country need to share that responsibility). He was one of the very best in the world at his position, he's a warrior, and he's earned the patience of Juve fans.

Too many people are just getting butt-hurt because they see the potential of a big money move going out the window (That, and we were spoiled by his previously consistent, amazing performances). Well fuck that small club mentality, we're not a selling club. Let's get this guy back up to full speed, and then enjoy his contributions to a championship caliber team.

Too bad about the penalty. Definitely need to start playing him in his best position, as well.

Copa America in June.
Fuck, I totally forgot about the Copa. Fuck. Well, he certainly needs a proper summer, IMO. :D

I guess we'll see how that works out. The rest of my points stand, though. 6 months rehab for a player who relies so much on his physicality, and has had his pre-surgery and recovery process effectively botched, isn't going to be enough time to get this guy back to form. Especially when he's playing out of position.

I just love him, and want our fans to support him. Best for all involved, really.

It's not small club mentality. I think the only valid point of concern after today is that one of our pillars from last season is malfunctioning yet again. Don't know about you, but I don't think we're swimming in talent and can simply spare Vidal for a whole season. We need him at his best and he isn't, which leaves us in a tight spot when it comes to reaching our objectives this season.

I wouldn't worry about meeting our objectives because I think it doesn't take much to meet them. Roma has been awful this season so we dont really have competition in Serie A while in Europe we just had to pass the group stage and it was an easy group.

We have managed this season despite having all of our pillars except Tevez malfunctioning be it Pirlo, Barzagli, Vidal or LLorente. This is because the squad is a level higher than the objectives the club is aiming for but not high enough as to really set new objectives (QF or Semi Final maybe?). If can have all those folks firing on all cylinders we would have been insanely good.

Everyone is concerned, that's a given, but we'll just have to make do with what he can give, for now. All teams have to deal with injuries.

It's been 6 months, Nz. He wasn't just the pillar from last season, he's been one of our very best 3 years in a row. He's been one of our only players with true star power (internationally). For people to turn on him, and not give him the support -- especially when we know part of why this recovery is so slow is because Juventus played him late in the season while he was hurt -- is something I've gotten tired of reading. He's earned more than that from the fans.

People moaning about being able to only sell him for say 25-30, instead of 40-50, is, for me, a small club mentality. Going for that money at the first sign of trouble, say 20M, over honoring one of our best soldiers, and most marketable players -- he's been an elite player, who will literally sell out his body for the club -- I just don't like it. We fans want the best, but he's been one of the best and isn't too old, so lets at least give him a chance to recover properly. When it comes down to a dollar value in that type of range, that mentality for me is small time.

But I'm maybe a little older, and bitter about how money is dominating all things football, these days. I get the other side of the argument, 20M is a big deal to our club, I get that. I just don't think you'd see a lot of top clubs selling their best players, before they had a chance to get healthy after an injury like this.

What are our objectives for this year? Every year, it should be to win every competition we're entered in. Right now, we're basically on track with all of our objectives -- we'll see how CL unfolds, how much we can pad what will already be a fairly outstanding financial haul, because of the TV rights. I do think we have a lot of nice talent that we've brought in (and are bringing in), they're just quite young. Growing pains are going to be involved with youngsters, but I actually like the level of talent on this team right now, quite a lot of potential. I'm probably more excited than most. We're building this team the right way. With guys like Rugani, and Berardi coming in -- they're going to need some time to play, otherwise there's no point bringing in so much youth. I also think that with Sturaro adjusting, Vidal continuing to improve, and Asamoah as an insurance policy for the league, during the last couple of months, that the midfield is going to be fine this season. So basically, I think we can make the appropriate moves to be extremely competitive in Europe next season, without selling any of our best players this summer.

Anyway, hope you're well, bud. Long time no chat.

I want us to stick with him as well. He really was so good that it's worth the risk of waiting to see if he'll be able to play at such a high level again. Selling him now for even 40m and to then see him play as one of the best in his position would hurt. Worth the gamble.

His bad form seems to come at least in part from his own mind. He's obviously frustrated at being so badly injured and not being able to play at his best. Hopefully that goes away with his knee recovering.

The injury Vidal suffered late last season should have seen him miss the WC and really go through the rehab the proper way. He took a risk, got back early to play for Chile in the WC and I think his overall pre-season has impacted his season.

An inform Vidal improves us immensely, as shown over the past few seasons. My question is, and purely looking at it from a business perspective, if we had an offer on the table for 40m...and that is a big IF at the moment, should we take it? Things to think about are his age, late 20s, offers like that this summer will not come, another long season with the Copa America being played, how does this impact his form and body overall? And to top it off, if the club needs cash to improve other areas, would we rather see Vidal based on all that is mentioned go rather than Pogba?

My real concern is two long seasons playing a WC and Copa in between after that knee injury...can he regain form and get his body back to where it needs to be?
