Not necessarily.

In the Copa America they were playing Beausejour, who is a right-footed right winger (and not any good).

Is it really LB Vidal is playing or is he playing LWB in a 3-5-2 type formation, like how they played in the Copa?
Beausejour is definitely left footed mate, as left footed as they get. I don't remember him ever starting as a left back either, he is sometimes played there when they're trailing though.

Maybe.

He's rubbish, so it can be hard to judge when he's poor with both feet.

Chile don't normally play with a LB, though.

In the Copa America, he played most games as the left sided player in their 3-5-2 type system.

Vidal on the left?

He was pretty quiet out there, but that was at least partially down to Chile focusing more of their play down the right with Isla.

Vidal's a central midfielder, so I don't see the point of worrying about what he is like in other positions.

Vidal would be a waste of money if we played him on the left. Honestly even with his versatility its sa wastejust like marchisio, he can play there and fill the gap when needed but not a permanent position. He needs to be in the middle owning that field.
