why does everyone always talk about playing beautifully based on attack and goals? no doubt that would win the game, but dont you get equally thrilled watching a 'beautiful' interception from thuram, a 'beautiful' block by cannavaro etc? thats equally entertaining to me. im not saying we should always play defensive, but sometimes when we need to and when we do, people talk as if its a bad thing. not conceding goals is also part of the game.

as for last night (and for the season), we have managed to build up our attack, camoranesi especially has helped create many, many chances. I just believe our missing link is an all-out striker. We dont have our very own 'it' striker.

But we DIDN'T create many, many chances. Some of you are acting as if we impressed last night. Saying we were much better than Real Madrid is simply a travesty of the truth.

Well, we were better then Madrid for almost the entire match, although they had some good counter attacks (the Ronaldo one as most dangerous). It would have been even better if we had played sensational football like Barcelona does now and then, but history has shown that Juventus is best at playing modest football.

I think it is off course great to watch teams like Barca or Milan as they really play great! But in the end the result are what matters!

I think it is difficult to combine playing great soccer and also be succesful, but i am satisfied with Juves style as long as it is succesful!

Yesterday evening was indeed a "serata fantastica", but it wasn't exactly one of those evenings that will go down in Champions League history. Juventus-Real Madrid two years ago will.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy we beat Real, I'm just disappointed in the way we did it. Two years ago we humiliated them, playing the most beautiful football I had ever seen. Yesterday we waited and waited only to strike when the oppurtunity came up. We didn't impress at all, but managed to get a maximum result with a minimum of attacking plays and effort.

I'm a bit disappointed our team has become not so beautiful to watch. Yes, I know, Juventus is Italian. But Juventus was Italian two years ago as well.
    u are wrong....

yes we did play better 2 years ago, but still we did attack alot, but this time we dident score when we had or chance.. and imo we did attack more this time then last time....! and or defence rocked..! so did the hole team..

Actually, I would disagree. We did create plenty of chances. Chances are more than just shot's on goal. A chance was Del Piero's missed volley at the very beggining, or when he failed to trap the ball properly, or when Zalayeta's shot was blocked. IMO we did enough of attacking.

We stepped in knowing we couldn't conceed a goal to Real at home, or it was likely all over. So that was going to skew our gameplan. Thus it wasn't about creating many, many chances. We were out to grind down Real, rather than to get into a shootout with them. And IMO, that was the correct game strategy.

So in the process, we weren't dancing on air like a ballerina with artistic goalscoring. Fine. We came in more like Rocky Balboa ... facing off in a heavy-weight championship slugfest where sheer will and determination were going to put us over the top after 15 rounds of body blocks and stiff punches. It was some smashmouth soccer, to be sure. But it suited us nicely. :D

We didn't play ugly, but we could atleast finish it 5-0, If Zlatan can just work on his Finishing, The last chance of the game whe he had Olivera free, and the first one not to mention the others...

Perhaps we didnt create THAT many chances but we did create quite a number, and we have been for the past few matches - we just miss that X factor, that extra link - our very own shevchenko or something of that sort. Zlatan's right, chances are not just shots on goals.

And on a personal note, I think we did play beautifully last night, in Capello's own words - "with heart, brains and good quality". The determination and passion was there. Nothing beats that.

I think Trez brings the so called x factor to the plate. And with the arrival of Mutu, i think we can only supplement that.

When taking how we've played this season into consideration I think we were very good on Wednesday. We haven't played with as much purpose since the early stages of the campaign and our attacking intent was clear, especially in the last half hour or so. If we keep playing like this I'll be satisifed and let's not forget that we've been without Nedved for a while now.
