True, default headphones on pretty much every device, are the quality of those you can in a cereal box as a present. That's why I bought miself Westone UM1 to go along with my i7.
You need proper sleeves. These earphpones work as they should only when the seal is right and outside noise is minimal. Try different sleeves, I'm using these currently and they fit my ears great(I got the largest size). They're also very durable and washable.
