    Well, I dont claim to know everything about our history, I mean I've read up on it, but it never really compares.

    But would we be where we are now if Totti wasnt here? I mean last season isnt really a good representation of Roma, would be of won in 2000/2001? And because he is here that does alot for Roma that cant be measured, some kid grows up supporting Roma because of Totti, later becomes a player and joins Roma etc etc, then there is the part of football I dont like, the business side. Totti easily brings in more money to Roma then we pay him. So really its hard to compare now, your better at this then me Shadowfax, you try it.

    Without Totti, Roma is nearly nothing.

    Totti is the backbone of Roma and Roma need him. They need him more than Juve need Tach obviously.


    Has Totti done more for Roma than Del Piero with Juve?

    i dont know what del piero has done that another player couldnt of, so i'd say yes

    I am leaning towars Totti being more important to Roma than Del Piero ever was to Juventus.

    Totti put Roma on the map, basically people who don't catch Series A will have no idea wtf Roma is if it wasn't for Totti.

    Of course it's also hard to quantify the bad Totti has done to Roma, bringing the club into disrepute, causing trouble with the coach and FA, making public enemies of other coaches/players etc.

    There is definitely still room for sentiment.

    Look at Alex Ferguson, if it weren't for his history with the club he'd have been sacked ages ago.Del Piero obviously is another example.Then there is also sentiment on the players' part, like how players eg. Trezeguet refuse the top salaries of richer clubs choosing instead to stay where they are.

    Trezeguet has said more then once that he wanted to leave Juventus, most specifical last sason with Barcelona.

    Ferguson operates in a league where they don't sack a manager because he only finished third. Houllier did substantially worse over a longer period, playing worse football, building a team of mediocre players, all against much less stiff competition. By comparison, Ferguson's had a blip.

    Ciro Ferrara is another good example. He didn't play a great deal of football in his last two seasons but was still allowed to remain in Turin where he wanted to hang up his boots. The club kept him here not only because he can pass his knowledge of the game on to others, but for sentimental reasons and it didn't hurt Juventus at all so there is certainly still room for sentiment.

    It's true that only in the EPL can a manager stay in a club for 13 years.However Liverpool and Manchester United are very different clubs especially when Houllier was still around.Back then CL qualification meant success for the Reds while a club bigger than Man Utd in England (and according to the EPL diehards, the world) was virtually unthinkable.

    Times have changed, and it seems Chelsea exists on another plane right now as compared to the rest of em'.I don't think it'll be another stroll in the park for Mourinho this season, but it's kinda sad to see more than a few Gunners and Devils fans already admitting their EPL season's over before it's started.

    Only because he 'though' Capello didnt consider him to be part of his plans. Once, they gave him a contract extension, you can see, all the riches of Chelsea, were not good enough to lure him away.

    Everton have signed Phil Neville from Manchester United, subject to the England international passing a medical.
    The 28-year-old has spent his entire career at Old Trafford, but after being a fringe player for the past few seasons his time at the club is coming to an end.

    It is believed the versatile player, who has played 389 matches for United, will cost the Toffees in the region of £3m.

    "Phil is a quality footballer who will, I feel certain, improve and enhance the squad we are putting together," said Everton boss David Moyes.

    "He is very much a professional’s professional and I am very happy to have signed him.

    "Primarily I see Phil as a holding midfield player but he is so versatile that he gives us not only much-needed cover but also several additional options.

    "We have staved off a great deal of competition to get him but from the first minute I spoke to him he only wanted to come and join Everton. His attitude throughout the entire negotiation process has been first class."
