I'm currently on a project to build an off-road vehicle and I'm responsible for the braking system. I was wondering if anyone could help me find catalogs to select brake parts from as I've only found one company's catalog online. Also, if someone could point me towards certain brands which are cost-efficient, that would be greatly appreciated.

To give you an idea on the parts I'm looking for, here's a list:

1-Single-piston master cylinders (No power assist)
2-Brake lines
3-Dust boots
4-Pedal Assembly
5-Push-rods
6-Disc brake calipers

The vehicle weight should be around 750 lb (loaded).

I hope one of you out there is a motor-head. Thanks in advance.

I've always closely examined to what mechanics do to my car.

But creating something from scratch... too complicated.

I'd rather have a beer (or even two)

elnur its a great idea to make friends with the mechanics who work at the garage.

go and ask them about the parts for a brake system.
google or the library might help you out too.

My mechanics have always been my best buddies. All of my friends were going to the same shop, so I would often go there when I have time just to hang out, listen to the rumors and talk to the mechanics and other clients.

You know that was my first source. :D

I've learned a good bit of it now and have the whole system planned. I've also found a couple of catalogs and possibly a sponsor that might donate all the components. The hard part now is putting it together.....I guess I'll just have to learn from my mistakes.

Here are pics of the complete vehicle. It was built by me and 6 other group members for our senior design project:
