He hasn't been relegated from Serie A, but he went down from B to C1 with Arezzo.

I think Conte will flop with a team like we have right now, but can turn out to be a good surprise surounded of superstars. One or two 4-4-2ish champs would make me optimistic about his future. I say, Aguero and a god damn DM to work for Pirlo. Mascherano is the only one coming to my head.

Masch would work at any system as would any decent and complete DM, but I'm just saying we'll need a WC DM if we're going to play Pirlo in a 4-4-2.

I think he could. With our back covered and with very roaming on the front, provided for Aguero and Krasic at least, he could. Matri is also good moving around and we could also count the LM if we really get a good one.

And lets be fair, Pirlo adds something to the defense phase. Little, but he still adds.

P.S.: If Conte has some flexibility, he could also play Pirlo - DM - Marchisio and he would have very options for the three in the front.

That's what I was aiming at really, too many assumptions. :D

On the other hand, nobody would be surprised if we bought a player who doesn't really fit into the (new) coach's plans either.

I loved Conte as a player, and like him also as a manager but come on Agnelli, he's nowhere near experienced enough to get us out of the mess we're in at the moment...

It's also strange with the players we've got he'd consider a 4-2-4... Our fullbacks are appuling, we've got no LW and our CM's are not strong enough, especially with Pirlo thrown into the mix... I hope Conte is being used as a smoke screen here (much like Moggi did with Deschamps prior to appointing Cappello)... For some reason I just cant see our board being that intelligent.

Some in here are seriously comparing getting Conte to the way we've got Lippi back in the 90's :howler:

Madness
If you're referring to me, I actually did not compare the two. I just said that you cannot call a coach a Serie B coach just because he started his career in B. Lippi started his career in lower divisions, no one can call him a Serie C coach.

It's still early to judge Conte's coaching abilities, unfortunately for us, Juve will be the experiment.

Conte would be a hit-or-miss coach, Juve past or not. Let's hope we buy some good players, as to be honest, plenty of coaches would fail to achieve anything with our current squad. You can't really expect Antonio here to work miracles if we don't vastly improve our squad aswell.

Buffon
Beck-bonucci-chiellini-bastos
Melo-pirlo
Krasic-matri-aguero-giovinco

:nerd:
That looks good. And when we find ourselves down a goal at home like we usually do, we can morph into this:

Buffon
bonucci-chiellini
Pepe-Melo-pirlo-Bastos
Krasic-matri-aguero-giovinco
