I agree. I don't think there is a good solution but penalties are as dramatic as they can get. Everybody has a memory from when they were looking throw his or hers fingers hoping that douchebag will miss or that legend will score. I don't think there is (at least for me) a scenario in a football game that involes more feelings then penalty kicks. And to me that makes them the best solution.

I agree, he was one of my favs and he is by far the best right back/full back in the world. But he along with emerson and cannavaro all left juve when they needed them the most.

We have Grygera, Balzaretti and Chiellini...plus Hasan Salihamidzic to cover if need be.

What the club should be aiming for are world class central defenders. Samuel, Barzagli, and Metzelder to a lesser extent.

However, real football fans don't watch soccer just for penalty kicks. You might lose the odd idiot fringe soccer spectator if you take away the penalties, but the loss is minimal. I would prefer something more team oriented but that's just me.

But seriously...I can see your point, but I like tradition. Which is why I'm against the whole replay thing and even goal line cameras to a certain extent. That's why I'd like to keep the system we have right now.

I'm curious though, what kind of team oriented solution could you have after 120 min. of play? That's a lot of football.

It's indeed a lot of football, however with there being substitutions allowed after full-time, the players could be substituted and the rest of the players on the bench would see playing time. You could have all the bench players see action and this combination of fresh and tired legs could solve the problem.

But then again, of course Italians will love the memories Baggio gave them as he almost helped the Azzurri win the cup in 1994. His displays were amazing, so of course fans will adore him. Segue on to now and you have a situation where because of Moggi's shenanigans we had to cut some of our losses by selling players and you guys are still moaning. Okay some of them have come up with ill advised statements and actions but the bottomline was that if they stayed with us in serieB, it would have caused more harm than good financially and with team morale. How on earth would you bench any of the following in serieB, Dp, Zlatan, Nedved, Emerson, Vieira, Zambrotta, Thuram, Trez, Cannvaro, Camoranesi and Kovac? Its a very different matter challenging for serieA title than playing catch up in serieB. I do not see how it would have been possible for these guys to have played in any kind of harmony. Look that ones that are left saying they would onlly tolerate another season like this if the board bought high quality players. Can you imagine what hell they would have been giving both board and manager if they were all here?

Besides how do you differentiate between loyalty and unprofessional lazy money influenced players? What you may class as being loyal , i might classify as being the other part eg i think Carlo Cudicini is a disgrace, he is one of the better goal keepers but he has been quite happy to sit at chelsea collecting good money for 2 years without too much matchplay, when it was time for him to step up with cech's injury, he quite conveinently got injured, now that cech is back, guess what so is he.
Could Zalayeta have gone to another lesser serieA club and have a better career there, perhaps, but he is quite happy to stay at juve and be at the very most 4th choice striker. You might call it loyalty, i call it something else. He has been here for what, close to 7 years or more, without any hint of playing consistently and he is happy to do that. There are a lot of players like that, i do not mind if really that player is not good enough at all to play even anywhere but if you are an international, why would you want to do that, your whole career

Again, some of those players actually wanted to leave and certainly would not have stayed on board even if we had begged them. But obviously that's not the primary reason I don't want them back.

I would rather listen to that than loyalty, as I am not really into loyalty from players that cannot play, let them be loyal some place else. If we can get better and younger than Emerson then by all means go for it. But from our current squad , noone can lace his boots and if we cannot improve on what we have right now and he is willing to come back, i do not see what the problem is. As for Thuram, having a great world cup nothwithstanding, he is on a downward spiral so it will be a no brainer to get him back. Cannavaro and Zambrotta could be 55 and still be better than what we currently have. Boumsong and Kovac will be laughing stock in serieA as a partnership. Speaking of showing respect to loyalty, is it not a 2 way street? Did some fans on this forum show any form of respect to the likes of Montero, Ferrara and Iulian when they were on the wane? Of cos not, they were abused like cocaine in scarface. You cannot always get totti, dp and maldini in football clubs, sometimes you have the vieris of this world

Zambrotta Happy With Life At Barça


Gianluca Zambrotta has dismissed reports that he could return to Italy at the end of the season, claiming that he is now settled at FC Barcelona.

Earlier in the campaign, the former Juventus star was linked with a move to Serie A in the summer due to homesickness, but he has now dedicated himself to staying in Catalunya.

“I want to win everything here," Zambrotta stated.

“I am not moving until the end of my contract, that is in 2010. It would not be fair to leave after only one season."

Despite going out of the Champions League to Liverpool this term, Zambrotta believes that Barça can complete the domestic double and then mount a European challenge next time around.

“This season’s objective is the Copa del Rey and La Liga, next year we will try to win the Champions League," he added.

During his early spell at Camp Nou, Zambrotta was unhappy as he struggled to adapt to his new surroundings.

That has all changed now, however, and the World Cup winner is beginning to enjoy his new life as he explained that he is becoming accustomed to life abroad.

“I am fairly pleased with my time here, things are much better compared to a while ago, when I still wasn’t used to Spanish football," he explained.
