He was ok, not poor but not brilliant, played Klose onside for the goal, needs a run of games which it looks like he is getting.

Same here, I always liked him. He's proper defender unlike some.
Proper defender with with above average defending skills. Makes sense.

He's not.

He really has no idea what he's talking about. This great CB of ours looks better as a LB than a CB. Says a lot about his defending skills. Reminds me of Caceres a lot.

Why do you think that? I'm calling it like I see it. I thought Ogbonna was really comfortble in his role. I was really impressed with how he used this body. I think hes going to grow into his role in an important way for the team. And I also actually agree with what Klin is saying here, he's also looking like a fairly interesting proposition as LB. Though I think he's just as good at CB.

That's not what i'm saying, j0ker. We don't play Bonucci there because he's the best defender ever. I thought this was obvious to everyone.
Well,Ogbonna has great ball playing skills and does know how to pick a pass but not as good as Bonucci ofcourse but we're talking about a CB position here and defending matters more.

It was still far from a masterclass performance though. He was actually pretty bad in the first half. Looked better as an LB in the 2nd half, sure.

He made a mistake marking Klose at least in one of his open headers. It could have been even two times, not sure. So he was not excellent, i quess. But i really liked him.

I'm all for changing to a 4-3-3 and dropping Bonucci, but he's a must in a 3-5-2. Just look when we had Ogbonna instead of him in the centre and our opponent closed down Pirlo. We were so obvious like B81's posts.

I think most of the team started a bit slow in the first half. We just have this tendency to get off the blocks a bit lethargically, but I think he was just immense as the game wore on. His sense of positioning is a very good sign. Anticipation is key in defense and its good to see he has that. His awareness was pretty good too. Good signs, and seeing that this was one of his rare starts, I was really happy that we have someone who could make up for the absence of someone likemChiellini who has had his fair share of monstrous moments this season, all that, in a tricky. important away game.

He had a good game overall, and I say that because his performance got better in the 2nd half. In the first half, though, I thought he was one of the worst on the pitch. Clumsy with the ball and most of his passes ended up directly at a Lazio player's feet.

But he did get better as the match went on, and that's obviously a good sign.

The whole team looked better in the second half though.

I think people just want to convince themselves he played well because they've decided they want Bonucci dropped.

Ogbonna was okay in general, but has had a couple of major lapses which a lot of people don't seem to have picked up on.

Bonucci, on the other hand, got beaten a couple of times (which everyone will have noticed) which didn't really matter, but actually came up with a couple of very good bits of penalty-box defending.

Aside from the Klin-Bonucci troll, I know why people like him so much. He's a good player to watch, he moves well with the ball, has a bit of grace to his game, physically strong and a turn of pace. Aesthetically and in 1v1 situations (on the ground) he is better than Bonucci, whose physique works against him in those respects. Unfortunately he's not the finished article in terms of awareness, he is a bit of a ball watcher, but put him in a duel and he'll have a good chance of winning.

With defenders it's far easier to see what they do directly against opponents than to watch how they read the game or move as part of a unit. The plus side to Ogbonna is that those are things he can improve on, even if I believe defensive awareness mostly comes from the individual.
