Ogbonna has been probably our 2nd best defender this season

I agree he'd be better off without sweeper duties. LCB was made for him ffs.
He looked pretty solid against the mighty Chievo, Verona and Kopenhagen. Did a great job at containing the immense threat of Adi & Paloschi...

No you're right

Chiellini and Bonucci have been fkn flawless when dealing with such greats like 50 year old Drogba, Juve legend Matri and the great destroyer Joaquin. At least Ogbonna doesn't get completely f*cked by a slow bouncing through ball.

For all their mistakes this season, BBC has shown enough times what they're capable of, and against Real I expect them to be fully concentrated as well, so no stupid errors.
I like Ogbonna, but he hasn't proven shit so far. This is admittedly also due to a lack of playing time, but the amount of praise he gest around here is a bit ridiculous. I'm all in for a bit of a shakeup of not only the defense but the whole team btw, including Ogbonna bagging more minuts.

I know on their day they're proven but when your defence is going mad and showing no signs of improvement, even collapsing yesterday. Then it's time to mix it up, and Ogbonna is definitely rated by Conte. And at 15mill this is the type of situation i'd think he would be useful in.

Are you now talking about the upcoming Madrid fixture or the general defensive crisis this year?
If you opt for him starting against Real, I have to disagree. It's just too big a game to risk anything (even though we're probably going to get raped anyway).
He should however defenitely start a few of the Serie A games after that though, we'll need to rotate the squad anyway.

In general. Because every team from Milan B team to Madrid are causing problems, big problems for us atm. So Ogbonna coming in and letting 1 or 2 players know they're not guaranteed a starting place could be good. But no, nothing's ideal about defensive problems before a fixture like this one.

Regardless of the significance of the upcoming fixture there's nothing atm that suggest that BBC will perform up to last year's standards. Chiellini and Bonucci have been terrible lately so why should we keep on insisting with them? Because they're proven? What about Buffon? He's proven as well, but based on his horrific goalkeeping this season people are questioning his status. Ogbonna is solid defender, very good positioning, strength, anticipation and quite nice technique as an addition to that, so this might be the right time for him to prove his worth on a biggest club stage and all these virtues to actually come to our aid. Or we could field BBC and hope neither of them will continue on the path they've been lately. It's a gamble whatever way you look at it, but I still think odds are slightly in Ogbonna's favor.

Buffon has been detoriating slowly since some point last season, and given his age it was bound to come to this anyway sooner or later. The problems of Bonucci and Chiellini are of a different nature in my opinion, most of which are down to simply a lack of concentration and commitment. Against Madrid there should be enough of both.
With Ogbonna on the other hand you also risk some mental consequences if he fucks up badly in his first big game with the club, which could potentially influence his whole Juve career or at least develop into a confidence issue for a couple of months.

You got some good points though, it's true that there is probably no 100% right decision in this matter.

Probably wouldn't offer that much offensively though...
I think he would offer more than Chiellini. His technique kinda suggests that crossing might be his strong point and also much better ball control. I would need to see him more there before passing the final judgment of course. Just my feeling atm.

He would defenitely be my first choice for LB if we actually try a 4 man back line.

He will definitely get a start against Genoa I think, Chiellini will be rested, after the Genoa game there is also a midweek game. Lets hope he get a few starts in the coming week.
