Changes are afoot as the Allievi Nazionali B (Under-16) team begin the 2012/13 season. Ivano Della Morte has moved up a category to take charge of the Under-17s and the man brought in to replace him is Giuseppe Angelini, a former Serie A player with an excellent track record.
Angelini has previously coached both at professional and youth level, and his wealth of experience will now be put to good use in the Bianconeri academy. He will be working with an extremely talented group of youngsters in his first season at Juventus. Last year the lads born in 1997 were robbed of the chance to contend for the Giovanissimi Nazionali (U-15) Scudetto by a dubious decision to determine the result of another match by forfeit.
Currently only a small group of U-16 players are carrying out fitness tests at the Juventus Center, as some of the squad have been training with Della Morte's U-17s for the past week. The real work for the Allievi B starts on Thursday 16 August when they kick off their pre-season training camp in Valle Pesio, almost a second home for the club's youth academy nowadays. The league season begins exactly one month later, on 16 September. Before then Angelini's boys will face Cuneo-based side Olmo in a friendly and take part in the Memorial Bertolini in Gassino Torinese.
