You might as well recommend some ROM's while you are here Sheikh.
Insertcoin and LeeDroid make great roms, though both their current Desire roms have reached final stage and receive no more updates. There are a few Runnymede-based roms, but i find them too flashy, and not fast enough. If you want the AOSP version of Android, then go for CM7, Oxygen rom or Villain rom.

Am on Miui right now but same thing thing happened overnight. looks like it's a dead end for htc desire. Thanks for the suggestions - I have already ruled out CM7, Miui, DesireGR & Elelinux. Lastly I will try the official HTC Desire ROM.

Official Desire ROM? Naah.. Don't think it's worth it. Might as well use LeeDroid's ROM. A truly awesome ROM.

LeeDroid FroYo: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768703

LeeDroid Gingerbread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038195

This ROM looks good:

If you're looking for a Sense 2.1+3.0 ROM, then look no further than InsertCoin.

BTW, it looks like the devs are close to getting a full ICS ROM up and running. Can't wait!

It's not a choice here Sheikh. Am just frustrated that all the ROMs are messed up on my Desire. Thanks for the tips. Downloading LeeDroid :D

Basically am doing this:
1) Rooted Desire using CWM v4.0.1.4
2) Download the ROM
3) Copy the downloaded zip file it to the root of your SD card.
4) Power device off and reboot it in recovery.
5) backup is not working so am starting to think my SD Card is the problem.
6) Wipe Data/factory reset, clear cache, wipe the battery stats & clear dalvik cache.
7) Choose the "Install zip from SD card’ option.
8) Reboot.

Make sure that the FAT32 partition comes first, followed by the ext3 partition. Despite many ROMs being ext4-compatible, I suggest you stick to ext3. I'd say a 1Gb ext3 partition would be just fine and dandy.
noticed any improvement in fluidity?
Or it was just as smooth as gingerbread?
It was certainly better than GB. I was impressed how smooth it was a freakin' alpha ROM. The final product should be silky! :D

I can't wait until ICS pops up on the tablets, it would be a wonderful experience.
