I have the Desire HD, love it and actually it was far cheaper for me on a plan than say an Iphone.
My only issue is that lately I have had some lag issues, especially when i am typing sms, it lags quite badly. Any fixes?
I have the same problem + more.

You have an HTC device? Its a more common problem than you think. Mine got deleted a couple of months ago.. Now I do a backup once in a while.
I have HTC D HD. I think I am going to root it soon.

That sucks. But you can always pay 10-15JDs and buy an 8GB external one. You can't function on so little man :D

Should I install a custom rom?
Hell yeah! As Gray said, you've not really experienced the best of Android till you've done so. You gotta read A LOT before you flash one though.

What dialers/contact app have you guys been using?

I'm currently using aContact and its UI is really nice but no contacts support. I also have tried GOcontacts/dialer and its not bad. Any suggestions besides the stock contacts/dialer?

For me the stock dialer has been great, though on stock it was slow as a donkey when first run. But now its amazingly fast and Im just too used on it for a change.

None of them that I've tried has come close to the HTC Sense Dialer. That's why I find it hard to move away from Sense ROMs.

I am not that great at these sorts of things, what should I do custom rom or root? Or is it the same thing :p? I'm assuming both void warranty? I would really hate to screw something up.

the standard procedure is Root>Install customer recovery>Install new ROM through custom recovery.

And yes, you'll lose warranty. But HTC have something beautiful called an RUU(Rom Upgrade Utility) using which you can install an HTC approved ROM back on to your phone and completely unroot it and thus regain your warranty. This of course is at the expense of losing all data on the phone. Not a big problem if you back it up to your SD card.

Indeed. But by the looks of it, Sense 3.0 was designed specifically for dual-core devices. Doesn't seem just like a small update to Sense 2.1, but a whole new version designed from scratch. Guess it was inevitable.
After the rage that came up since that comment, they have mentioned on their Facebook page that they will figure something out :lol2:

A company like HTC one year after winning the award forcompany with most satisfied customers cannot just do what they did one month after releasing two monster phones in the Desire S and the Incredible S. Not to mention the Desire and Desire HD.
