Toggling Airplane mode on-off?
Try selecting a network operator? setting --> wireless & network --> mobile network --> network operator?
Oh and check if data is enabled

APN settings should fix it , let me know what happens

It didn't work. It's not letting me save the APN's anymore.

Call your mobile carrier they should be able to set the phone as a Desire HD on their end and provide you with some assistance?

Now when I shut down the phone and turn it back on, it brings me back to where I was before I shut it down.

What have you done so far? besides unlocked it. You got any other sim cards you can try out?

Unlocked, set up my google account, set up the APN, it let's me choose it but there is still no service.

But ur sure it's unlocked? Not sure how the DHD works but I heard that on some G2's when they got them unlocked with a code it wouldn't work anymore (said no service for all sim cards). I doubt it's an issue with the DHD. Have you messaged the unlock company yet? I would . Try this. Oh and toggle wi-fi

Sellect phone information and scroll all the way down to the bottom
Select the set preffered network type and change to GSM auto (prl)
