you still need a good passer who can comfortably sit in front of defense though, and most teams have at least one player like that. kroos, modric, jorginho, kovacic, busquets, pedri, kimmich, tonali, verratti, brozovic, fabinho, list is way too long really. only a very few of them are actual registi.

You don't need a regista if you press high and win the ball up the pitch, a dynamic team with pace and mobility will outshine a defensively solid team who play a tactical game imo. Normally to win a CL you need to take risks and play a more aggressive game.
