The more and more I think about this the more I feel it's a mistake.

One of my all time favorite players but come on Pirlo doesn't even know what kind of coach he's going to be and will literally learn game by game.

Is he brought in to be a yes man?

Absolutely. No doubt in my mind at all that he will have no say in transfers and will have to play the hand he is dealt and he has no experience at all of doing that.

How does the fans react if we start the season poorly with like 3 wins from opening 10 games?

Do we give him time?

Ferarra talked a good game and promised attacking football but was accused of having an approach of being more of a friend of the players than an authority figure.

Will Pirlo be the same?

We have literally seen world class coaches outsmart each other in big games as if they are playing chess so what makes us think the likes of Conte won't eat Pirlo up with experience alone?
Love the guy but I'm genuinely nervous. I don't want to dislike the guy at any point, so unfair, so wrong. If we were rebuilding as a midtable team it's a great choice but I still don't get it. Yet, there's been times, I've questioned Agnelli choices and left surprised and happy. Agnelli has earned our trust, love the guy, and for this one I'll welcome him with open but nervously shaking arms.

He won't be tasked with that. Sure, our directors will keep saying that CL is priority, but everyone knows that this current Juventus team doesn't stand a chance in CL. This current team won't even win the scudetto next year, no matter the coach.
It's gonna be a transition year. We'll get rid of some old players and replace them with younger ones. Then, with this new blood, we might get the scudetto like we did in 2016, but it won't be a disaster if we don't win it, as long as we build for the future. If we got a proven and expensive coach, we weren't gonna be able to invest much, and especially to invest smart. The new coach would have demanded an expensive player or two and we'd have been stuck with the deadwood.
Unfortunately we are in Inter's position a decade ago. They went with Benitez and kept all their old players. It took them 9 years to enter the scudetto race. We're taking a different road and I am glad. I'd have been worried if we did this in 2014 when Conte left or in 2015 after the CL final. But this current squad needs at least 2 or 3 summers to be fixed (in the meantime Ronaldo will leave too) and I prefer to do it smart and without pressure.
Then why keep Ronaldo at all?

I know you may say marketing and appeal but if we are really not trying to go all out for the CL and are expecting a transition year then why not ditch him with his super wages and do a ground zero rebuild and put the money back into the squad?

I'd rather his wage go towards a top coach with clear ideas and build a competitive squad than take a risk with someone than hasn't coached a training session and keep a player that's obsession is winning the Champions League while his current club have different ideas.

Not sure about this one. The man has literally 0 coaching experience and being tasked to take over one of the biggest clubs in Europe, keep up a historic title-winning run and moving the club forward in Europe, seems like an impossible and monumental task for someone starting their experience in coaching.

But who knows? It’s an extremely ballsy move on Agnelli and Pirlo’s part, but I am kind of excited to see how it plays out. There’s something about him that screams winner and champion and he has a type of silent charisma and class about him that we all know and love. I can see the players absolutely running through brick walls for him and respecting the hell out of him. It’s a proper departure from the way we do things and I am actually genuinely excited for next season.

Welcome back Andrea! Bring us back to where we belong.

I honestly have no idea how to feel about this. It seems we're probably sacrificing next season to rebuild, but what does that mean for Ronaldo staying here? Surely, he didn't sign up for this. What about the other players? The Pirlo appointment does have the potential to pan out magnificently, or it could completely backfire. At this point in time, it's looking like the latter.

What's his coaching philosophy? Does he even have one? What kind of players is he likely to demand, and what type of players will he actually get? So many variables and uncertainties. Could he just be a stop gap appointment until another coach is available in the summer of 2021?

Congrats to him for getting this appointment. I hope he manages to transfer some of that ingenuity which he displayed week in week out as a player, to current group. At this point I dont know what to expect tbh but legend or no legend objectives remain the same; Serie a title and deep CL run. Good luck.

"What even the Juve players who are friends of Pirlo don't know is that Pirlo has in mind a shocking idea of football for them. I'm getting information ..." [Momblano via @NonSoloJuve]
Coaching them to pass the ball forward instead of backwards. Having midfielders make attacking runs. Improving the defence.

Novel concepts, I know.

Agnelli wants 10 in a row. That's been his primary objective.

We aren't going to just throw away a season. There's no need for that. Squad has obvious glaring weaknesses, but they tend to be exaggerated after a bad loss. Squad may not be 100% completed this mercato, but we'll competitive with the same objectives.
