He won't be tasked with that. Sure, our directors will keep saying that CL is priority, but everyone knows that this current Juventus team doesn't stand a chance in CL. This current team won't even win the scudetto next year, no matter the coach.
It's gonna be a transition year. We'll get rid of some old players and replace them with younger ones. Then, with this new blood, we might get the scudetto like we did in 2016, but it won't be a disaster if we don't win it, as long as we build for the future. If we got a proven and expensive coach, we weren't gonna be able to invest much, and especially to invest smart. The new coach would have demanded an expensive player or two and we'd have been stuck with the deadwood.
Unfortunately we are in Inter's position a decade ago. They went with Benitez and kept all their old players. It took them 9 years to enter the scudetto race. We're taking a different road and I am glad. I'd have been worried if we did this in 2014 when Conte left or in 2015 after the CL final. But this current squad needs at least 2 or 3 summers to be fixed (in the meantime Ronaldo will leave too) and I prefer to do it smart and without pressure.
Transition year or not, if Pirlo doesn't win the Scudetto at least, he will be gone just as Sarri. There's no doubt about that in my mind.

But the thing is guardiola already had some coaching experience. We've handed the reins to someone who hasn't even so much held a training session!
Look from this perspective, coaching in B team (segunda divsion). Almost the same like the experience coaching a team in Serie B for 1 year
Both Zidane and Pep Guardiola start from their B team

It is still need a leap of faith in management to appoint them in top flight. Let's say Agnelli have that leap of faith on Pirlo
But like I say before, it is better if Pirlo have at least 1 year in U23 first so he will not shocked about off field things

exactly. it's a huge fucking risk.

pirlo was a genius as a player with a very rare level of understanding the game, so i do hope he'll be able to repeat his successful career as a coach too.

Can you please elaborate how he could be a success? Based on a conversation about his philosophy to AA is all we know, he has absolutely no credentials, I hate how everyone thinks hiring from within is a plausible success

As of 3 weeks ago, he wasn't even a part of this organization, never mind part of any inner structure in the club.

I just hope that we are not setting him up for failure. The only real sign of intent will be if they get him the players he would be looking for to match his coaching philosophy, which is to.......................................................

I think the plan B is Max, and Pirlo will be back to U23 if that happen
Allegri may be available now, but won't be for long.
As most of the other options as well. No-one will be available by x-mas, unless he fails too hard elsewhere.
Yet Pirlo would be with the youngsters, so he could be called at any moment.
Also he would be given some precious first lessons by then.
Now we look too desperate...

I do not know why that matters. It is totally plausible that pirlo could be a success
No one said it isn't possible. It's about likelihood.

next to zero experience vs zero experience, not a huge diff. anyway, it's about feelings and similarities as stated, but great job sherlock, feel free to please yourself with a sauna, check out some dicks and send me the invoice.
Erm.

I thought Allegri is still in our payroll

My mind tells me this is a big ass gamble, likely a mistake.
My heart tells me it is a dream come true.

My heart and mind both agree that Pirlo was always the guy to look at the same thing an entire stadium was looking at but see something only he could.

I did say "could be a success" not that he would. I'm only saying because I dont know what people are basing this appointment on. Its like saying i did well on football manager, I'm a valid candidate for the job
