but barca is a different animal. they are masters at pressing.
They still take big risks in order to press.

The key is to move the ball forward early and that is likely to give you a chance to get Tevez and Morata against just Pique and Mascherano.

If you play too many passes slowly or sideways, then Barca can really press.

But Juve, more than virtually anyone else in the world, has players who can be expected to receive the ball when under pressure and retain possession.

althought we tend to pass too much between our defense and midfielders. I fear that will be costly. Also some of opur players tend to lose the ball or make stupid passes when udner pressure.

i am not afraid of the pressing. that only scares me when we are chasing goals.

i am scared of his habit of passing straight to opponent players.

This is what i was saying. it seems that when comes to passes , our team lack technique and we give away WAY too many balls. Against barca it will be costly.

Just need to make sure there is movement ahead of Pirlo for him to play to.

Ancelotti said Real had the plan to press Pirlo in Turin, but because Juve were moving well and Pirlo able to play passes through the press, Real had no choice but to back off Pirlo and focus on denying Juve space higher up the pitch.

Without the good movement, there is no risk for a team when they press Pirlo and they can really go after him.
I don't know that Matri provides any sort of extra movement that Tevez and Morata usually provide. I think the issue for Pirlo is that he used to be able to feint at least 1 pressing opponent to give himself time to play passes.

Nowadays he can't even give himself an inch and constantly has to play our CBs into trouble with backwards passes. He can't get up the field quick enough to play passes from better positions like Marchisio can and has done while playing DM.

I mean, he can't get the ball for himself. He can't run quick enough to make himself available in advanced positions. He can't even feint attackers anymore to buy himself some breathing room. If you put the ball on a tee for him he can still destroy defences but man the conditions for him to be successful seem to be so few and far between. A tired Lazio and a fresh Matri is a pretty optimal set up for him but that's probably going to be the exact opposite against Barcelona, for example.

Matri was only needed because of Morata's absence.

Tevez and Llorente don't look to run in behind a defence normally, so too much of the game the other night was comfortably in front of Lazio and that made it easier for them to squeeze up.

There's no doubt Pirlo is deteriorating, but he is nowhere near the liability you are suggesting he is.

This is one thing that i got quite impressed with the past 2 years, and especially this one.

Its one thing to have physically imposing midfielders that can win duels everywhere and such, but its another thing to keep hold of that ball, or when it was passed to you.

Every single player on this team, bar licht recently, is so damn good at keeping the ball when received. Barcelona might want to press, but they'll be pressing players who are downright better in duels. Apart from the front 3, their entire team is inferior duelwise against their direct opponent. And for the front 3 we'll add individual skill with a perfectly set deep defence©.

We need to keep it compact, and make it hard for barcelona to reach the front. When Messi drops off, the correct players must press him but not make challenges, force the wrong pass, dont get dribbled out of position.

Then when we got it, flame it forward against an exposed backline.

What many forget is that barcelona has a wide game with consistantly pressure from the 3 closest players. The direct downside of this is that there is alot of space eighter between the lines, or behind the defence. We got players that could benefit of eighter. but most of all, we have a team that isnt raped in the ass by their strikers before we get our chance.

That Messi goal against Athletico, thats the type of goal we wont condede.
