Pirlo, however, is 2 years younger than Ambro and 3 than Seedorf, so I supposed he believed he deserved a better contract than what Milan were willing to offer.

Considering the players on Juve's roster, I would think Pirlo is a clear improvement - just because Allegri prefers different type of midfielder, that doesn't mean Pirlo cannot be a quality addition to other teams ... actually, I thought Barca would go after him as an alternative to Xavi, who is about the same age but whose salary dwarfs the 3-4 mil Pirlo would be getting at Juve i.e. Pirlo would have been a "bargain" for them ... but I guess they are looking at Fabregas for that role

He was the only Milan player i would love to see in Juve in past. But i guess it's a bit late. He has lost his edge and desire. I think it's not wrong to say no club other than Juventus(excluding Quatar) offered him a long term contract.

In the long it is a clear downgrade, we are practically replacing Aquilani with Pirlo.
Pirlo has once been a greater player, far greater player, BUT Aquilani is always a decade younger and the decision to scrap u will hurt as in the long run, esp if we sell off Sissoko for peanuts in the process.
1-2 years for now the Pirlo-Pazienza duo will be worthless, while Aquilani-Sissoko will be useful, at least for depth.
And there is always the chance that Aquilani will grow better after he gets a permanent contact and fits in.

Also consider Pirlo's form, hes def not a starter material atm...
Its a clear downgrade for us, smart move from Milan!
