Can't believe you guys really think he dived. Replays clearly showed he was kicked, it was a 100% penalty. He couldn't have kept his balance even if he had intended to.
I just went back to the moment and watched it again. The contact from Santacroce was minimal, his leg brushed Pirlo with little contact. Pirlo then threw himself to the ground. Stupid move to not show strength in that situation.

Pirlo you could tell, was intending to go for the penalty instead of the goal even before he touched the ball. I just find that attitude so frustrating. He probably would've had a goal had he gone for it.

I think he is experienced enough to not change a 90% goal opportunity with an only potential penalty kick. The slightest kick on the thigh especially when you can't see it coming could make you lose your balance. I believe he didn't intend to get a penalty.

I can't figure that one out either. All he had to do was trap the ball and shoot it towards goal.

That was poor sportsmanship on his part, and I would have never, EVER, thought to say that about him
Wacky suggestion - maybe he was actually fouled. He's not exactly Essien when it comes to physique. He clearly makes the most of it but that shouldn't be enough to stop a penalty being one.

Reminds me of the Del Piero one against Genoa (?).

It's more likely to make you lose balance on the move than it is while you're standing still. Pirlo probably doubted he had the angle given where the ball was going to land and went looking for the penalty. Was clear as day despite his late night antics.

Maybe at a higher pace, but I'm not sure about this one. He just fell to his knees instead of genuinely looking like he lost balance.

Pirlo was going for the penalty, but there was also contact. In my opinion, it was a penalty, because that would've been a freekick had it been outside of the box. But because he was too "obvious" about going for the penalty, the ref probably didn't like that very much, and decided swiftly to let his doubts go in Parma's favor. The Giovinco-situation may also have been in the back of his head.

Been poor for a while. Its not solely to formation as his most certainly had the space (especially in this game) to play some nice balls forward. Disappointing and certainly not the first time.

You won't hear anyone else really saying that, would you?

That's an amazing thing to say. He had an awesome game against Milan in the coppa, and he's sent some passes in the last two league games that, had we had better finishers, surely would've ended up being assists. His pass to Lichtsteiner against Siena almost made me cum, and he had at least 3 delightful passes into the box that found their man tonight against Parma. He also works very hard and adds dynamism to our play with his short passes.

How has he been poor for a while? He's been one of our best players lately.

Well his not pleased me. The pirlo we had at the first of the season was really something.

Yes his had the odd good games most namely Milan. However when you see that the ball is at his feet most of the time you expect him to play clinical passes more. Yes our strikers are shit but like today I expected him to pick out the players more precisely. Then theres been games where his passing has been what I call feather passing, lost between positioning, so unlike the real pirlo. Lets face it when he does play well, we end up getting victories or usually one of our wingers pop up and score. However when he doesnt we suckio. Today it wasnt just the strikers fault, it was also a pirlo thing.

Im not so sure about the dynamism. There was a moment for example today where he had plenty of time to play a pass, there was giacch and matri and some other guy hoping to make a run, what does he do? pass to licht. He floats around which I guess is ok if he was accompanied with a more battling partnership in the centre. Actually fuck that shit! I just realised it was marchisio who should have done better to complement him.

Perhaps it's your expectations then, that are a bit unrealistic? Pirlo is one of our best performers. I don't think we would've been in the top 3, even, without this player.
