Barzagli-Juve reach agreement?
By Football Italia staff

Reports say Juventus have reached an agreement with Andrea Barzagli to extend his contract until 2018.

The Italy international’s current deal expires at the end of the season and an extension has been expected.

Tuttosport reports that the player reached an agreement with Juve today to pen a new two-year deal and that only an official announcement remains before it is confirmed.

The 34-year-old, who will retire from international football with Italy after Euro 2016, has been at the Old Lady since 2011.

Leonardo Bonucci calls Juventus teammate Andrea Barzagli “an example for everyone”.

The Bianconeri have conceded just 15 goals in 27 Serie A games so far this season, with Bonucci forming a formidable partnership with Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini.

“I’ve played with many champions and I try to steal secrets from everyone,” Bonucci explained to Total Italian Football.

“But the player I like watching on the pitch the most is Barzagli. He’s unbeatable in one-on-ones, he’s impressive in training and he always gives 100 per cent in the match.

“I think Andrea is an example for everyone.”

The Old Lady endured a difficult start to the season, but are undefeated in their last 17 League games, including 16 wins.

“The turning point of the season was the game against Sassuolo [a 1-0 defeat]. There was a strong emotional shock after the defeat and that’s when we went back to being the real Juventus.”

The Italian international was also asked about the impact of the Juve Coach Massimiliano Allegri and his predecessor Antonio Conte on his career.

“Allegri? He’s very intelligent and he knows how to manage the squad," Bonucci explained.

"He’s given us calm and togetherness, and he’s a very good Coach at the tactical level.

“As for Conte, I was lucky to meet him after an unfortunate year at Juventus where we’d finished seventh.

“The success of Juventus is also down to Conte, who brought a winning mentality and technical knowledge, enhancing the characteristics of us players.

“It was a critical step in my career, and I’ll always be grateful to him for what I learned on and off the pitch.”

'Juventus must learn lessons’
By Football Italia staff

Andrea Barzagli says Juventus must learn their lessons from the Inter defeat - “we can play badly, but not like that”.

The Bianconeri went into Wednesday’s game at San Siro with a 3-0 lead from the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final.

However, the Beneamata levelled the tie with a 3-0 win of their own, though the Old Lady eventually triumphed in a penalty shoot-out.

“It was an unexpected game, one which should make us reflect,” Barzagli admitted to La Stampa.

“Maybe at the beginning we had the handbrake on, then the fear set in. We prepared well, but we did badly.

“Maybe some came into it with a bit of fear or apprehension, but I don’t think it was down to that.

“We can’t have a game like that, we can play badly, but not like that. The most difficult matches make you grow more.

“We did some good things too, but we have to look at the errors. We have to hope we’ve learned our lesson.
