Its that other side of the ball, particularly the secondary and linebackers, that need some help.
No doubt about that buddy. They still need a ton of pieces, but they have to be happy about the initial production they're getting from their recent high draft picks. Things could be going much worse. I mean, they were an unfortunately terrible rule (Johnson's denied TD), and a poor play call on 4th down (should have kicked that FG) from being at least 1-0 and in overtime against the Eagles.
With their starting QB hurt, to boot (although I do have a bit of a soft spot for Hill, his leadership & demeanor will surely help such a young team, even if he lacks some of the physical tools).
I'd rather be a boring team to watch and actually get wins on the board. We have some offensive weapons now but the defense is still poor overall.
I understand that you would prefer the W's buddy, but it's not as simple as just going defense in drafts. Picks still have to pan out, and yours are looking damn good.
You were never going to be able to rapidly turn over the entire team, on what has been (and until you get some more wins, still is) a historically bad team.
Certainly should have spent that money on Burleson a little more wisely. Definitely going to be a lot of defensive draft picks for your team in the next few years.
Anyway, the Lion's look better than I thought they would at this point in the season, full stop.
Edit: and as a neutral fan, I can actually stand to watch them play for a change.
