That's just lies...

No, its not lies.

Taylor Mays has top 10 talent, he just needs a lot of coaching to correct some of his mistakes. But you cannot teach his size, speed, and physicality. He is a genetic freak at strong safety, and god bless that poor little wide receiver who tries to go over the middle on a crossing route when he is in the area

We traded Toby Gerhart for Ben fucking Tate? Fuck me. Maybe this is another one of Koob's gambles.

As for all the Colt McCoy haters. Watch where him and Clausen are in 3 years and where Bradford and Tebo end up.

No doubt, buddy. Broken record, it just kills me; I doubt this kid has ever had an original thought. He is the straight and narrow, intensely religious, cliche machine, which makes for an absolutely brutal sound bite for the average fan (I'm sure that management, PR, etc., like it alright).

You're a Bills fan? I feel your pain, Maxwell. Or are you a Maximus? Most of my close friends are Bills fans, due to the proximity of Kingston to Buffalo. You boys have had it tough for quite awhile. Here's hoping that you finally hit a need, and end that 10 year playoff drought. I'm not really sure what the Bill O-line looks like, I just know that it's terrible. Maybe your team should trade for Baltimore's Jared Gaither, especially if you pick a QB in the 2nd. I doubt Baltimore would be all that interested in Lynch though. I also think you will have to move up to get one of those QBs... maybe throw in the to 4th move up, and then next years 2nd for Gaither? Who knows... but moving up into the top picks of the 2nd round is going to be pricey.

Actually IZ, it looks like TBay got it right. Some people had McCoy ranked as the best player in the draft, and when it got to their pick, it was basically a no brainer. His value was such that after Bradford got picked, McCoy was always going to go two or three; another team would have traded up to get him, if Tampa hadn't wanted to draft him.
Yeah, Maxwell, good guess. And yeah, it's brutal. And yeah, McCoy was available but the Bills passed him up for a defensive end. Fuck me. So Ryan Fitzpatrick for starter, I guess.

EDIT: Correction - McCoy AND Clausen were still on the board when the Bills had their 2nd Round Pick.

Hopefully all of them take the same path as Joey Harrington.

After going through about 10 sites, most pundits are rating the 49ers draft anywhere between a B and an A, with most being in the B+ to A- range.

I'll take it.

As pissed as I was with the first two picks, I know that the 49ers need to rebuild the offensive line. I'm just surprised that they did it with their first 2 picks.

Regardless, these guys are both huge(6'5" 330 lbs each), strong, and were rated as the two best run blocking offensive linemen in the draft.

Will be very interesting to see them in the pre-season with a running play in which Gore is running behind Davis and a pulling Iupati.

Like I said earlier, I LOVE their 2nd and 3rd round picks of Taylor Mays and Navarro Bowman. They were both graded to go a lot higher than they actually did.

As for the rest of the draft, the only players I had heard of were Williams from ASU, and Dixon from Mississippi state. IF they were going to draft another TE, I was hoping that it would have been McCoy from USC. I digress.

I'm actually more excited about the Undrafted Free Agents they signed right after the draft. There are some really good names there.

Jarrett Brown
LeGarrette Blount (You may remember him as the dude from Oregon who punched out half of the Boise State team)
Shay Hodge
Scott Long

And lastly the player that I am most intrigued about. LeRoy Vann from Florida A & M.

Who is he?

What were most of the grades for the Lions?

I'd give it an A- depending on what happens with Best. I think he'll either be an amazing signing or a total bust, not in between. I'm worried about his once-a-season injuries.

B to A-.

As much as most people agree )like myself), that Best ws agood pick, they feel that they didn't have to move up and give up so much to do so.

I was mostly looking at the Niners draft grades, because I was curious as to what people had to say.

ESPN rated it in the top 5, One writer for CBS said it was tied with detroit for 2nd best bheind the Seahawks. Sporting news gave the 49ers an A- (And they have always been tough on S.F. drafts, for some reason.

Seattle just did a tremendous job with the draft and their trades during the draft. They basically got Lendale White and Leon Washington for nothing. If Lendale white is in shape an motivated, that gives them the power game they are looking for.

It's a crap shoot though. If you had a fear that somebody else would take Best and he was your man, you had to make that trade. We will see what happens with the kid, but right now isn't a time to be a MQB. They wanted him and got their man. To say it's a B at this point when they addressed four areas we need massive help in (including OL) isn't being fair, IMO.

Now sign Pacman, another OL, and a few others in the FA market, and we should be good.

I hope to at least win two more games than last year.

Hey, I'm not the one who is saying its a B.

You don't believe me then goi check the websites for yourself.

I said the grades ranged from a B to an A-

I'm not doubting what you said or what you believe, Serge. You predicted and approved of what we did. I'm addressing those who did give those grades. To me, it's a bit of the Monday Morning QB syndrome.

But then again, I know less about American football than a donkey.

Buddy, after pouring through the interviews on our site, and scanning draft reviews, etc., I'm pretty happy with that first round. I had wanted Iupati the big angry samoan pre-draft (I figured at 17), and it's obvious how high the coaches are on Davis. Our O-line was embarrassing last year, and I really love the direct, no nonsense method of turning our primary weakness into a strength (It appears to be the case, time will tell). They saw what they wanted, and they went and got it - I respect that.

When you consider that Mays would have been a top 10 pick last year, and was in the 1st round in basically every 2010 mock I saw... well, it's pretty exciting to come out of a draft with three guys projected as legitimate 1st round talents. You said it buddy: Taylor Mays is a total freak, and now he's fucking pissed! the 49th pick to the 49ers could be a huge steal.

Bowman looks good, Dixon was projected by most to go in the 3rd or 4th rnd, and we got him in the 6th. I really enjoyed some YouTube clips of Williams last night - he's a pretty electric player. We'll see if he can cut it in the NFL as a slot receiver; at the very least, he'll offer some early competition for Ginn in the return game. Hopefully he turns out a decent camp, and sticks with the team.

I don't know anything about the blocking TE we got, or the CB with the last pick.
We don't have much depth at CB at all. So that's the Wilson debate. Honestly, I'm an O guy, and that line is what it's all about.

Anyway, when you look at the guys we got at the draft, add Ted Ginn (our 5th round pick), and the FA's (which apparently no longer includes Blount who will sign with the Titans... a bit disappointing, as he's a beast who put up some pretty big numbers 2 seasons ago), this looks like a pretty darn productive draft. Of course we won't know for some time, but initially it looks good.

I'm really excited to see what Gore can finally do behind a quality line, and I think that with continuity for the first time in his career, and a pretty solid arsenal of playmakers, Alex Smith is finally going to have his break out season. No, seriously. :xfinger:

I like the look of this team going forward.

Edit: That LeRoy Vann has got some crazy speed. Definitely will keep an eye on him...

Edit#2: Also forgot that we got an extra 4 next year, when we moved down for Bowman. So the 4th we gave up this year, to move up for Davis, was partially offset. Another plus.
