Brazilian striker Amauri, of Juventus, said that he could say no to the national squads of Italy or Brazil, in the newspaper "La Repubblica."

"Brazil or Italy? I could say no to both, I don't want to become part of some auction between national squads."

Amauri also said that he came to Juventus on his own two feet as a "total unknown," and that he did not need any national squad.

Italian coach, Marcello Lippi, has already stated his interest in counting on the striker in Italy.

As for the Brazilian team leader Dunga the Juve player said that he could be called, "but if there is a great forward he won't speak of me."

Apart from this, Amauri declared that he does not think of, "opening his mouth until there actually is an official call from one or the other. Supposing there will be one."

The Brazilian striker will have his Italian passport as soon as his wife, who has lived in Italy for more than 10 years and has applied for citizenship, gets hers.

If you ask where his home is, the Brazilian doesn't hesitate: "Italy. We've discussed it a lot in the family. I think we will stay here forever.

"Also because I am a famous personality, in Brazil this can be very dangerous, in my home we eat pasta and live the Italian," he declared.

"I want to win, I've never won anything, this is my great desire," he concluded.
not sure if its been posted. :D

I think it'd be sweet if he chose the azzurri but this passport nonsense has been going on too long. I feel that he wants to choose Brazil but thinks he'll be second choice to someone else whereas he thinks he could hold a starting position for italy. Even though I think its the other way around, Brazil have shit strikers IMO and Amauri could walk into that squad. Whereas italy have a buttload of strikers to choose from.

Either way I hope he chooses by Feb 10th so I can see him at Emirates :xfinger:

italy does, but not to the quality of amauri, amauri can do what gila and toni do put together and more, and he's a rich man's quagliarella, if you ask me italy needs amauri more than brazil do.

I want Amauri to join Italy, I'm a fan of Toni out of loyalty to Azzurri but Amauri playin would be sweeeeet

and also...that way I can get his name on my italy shirts & a more obsecure name (to the public) on my juve shirt next season, a De Ceglie or Marchisio shirt would rule (not Molinaro)

Amauri delays Azzurri decision

Amauri has delays in getting his Italian citizenship and is tired of the Italy-Brazil debate. “We'll talk when someone calls me.

The Brazilian Juventus star has hinted he would play for the Azzurri if his homeland did not bring him in for international duty.

However, the option may not be open to him, as there are delays in his wife's citizenship process due to some missing paperwork.

In these days I have read and heard many things that are simply not true,” said Amauri.

For this reason, I have no intention of leaning either way. When I receive the call from one of the national teams, and only then, will I make a decision.

I will get back to talking about international football later on, but for now I am focusing only on Juve. I cannot say what will happen.”

Marcello Lippi had hoped to call Amauri for the February friendly against Brazil at the Emirates Stadium in London, but that now seems very unlikely.

Amauri has draw blanks against modest opposition in the last 2 matches although his commitments in those matches are top-notch. He needs to score soon to get the groove back. Forza Amauri.

anyone else notice how frightningly accurte Amauris headers are?

whether it's going for goal or going towards his teamates, most of the time his headers are accurate.

Now imagine if we had a fit Camo on the right and Gio on the left to send crosses to him
