"There is absolutely no truth in the rumors that Amauri will go to Roma" - said the FIFA agent Giampiero Pocetta.
"There is no truth in it. Those are news without any foundation. Roma didn't ask for Amauri at all."

Cassani: Amauri was the best
By Football Italia staff

Fiorentina’s Mattia Cassani has praised forgotten Juventus striker Amauri. “He’s the best player I’ve ever played alongside.”

Amauri is being paired with a switch to Tuscany this month as the Viola look for an Alberto Gilardino replacement following his transfer to Genoa.

Amauri is available given that he hasn’t played a single minute of football for Juve this term and his contract expires in June.

“The Amauri who was with me at Palermo was the best player I’ve ever played alongside,” Cassani told the Corriere dello Sport. “He was a monster.

“Had he not picked up an injury in 2006 then we would have ended that season by qualifying for the Champions League.”

The Brazilian-born Italian international scored 23 Serie A goals in 52 games for the Rosanero before moving to Juve in a €23m deal in the summer of 2008.

He made an impressive start to life in Turin, but the goals dried up and he’s scored just 17 in 71 top-flight games for the Old Lady.

Meanwhile, Cassani should return to action this weekend against Novara after recovering from injury.

“I’m ready to play,” said the man who arrived at Fiorentina on loan from Palermo in the summer. “And the squad is in good shape.”

This forum refuses to admit that Amauri was a decent player, or could be one for a mid-table team.
Classic revisionism.

Amauri for about a year (last six months at Palermo, first six months at Juve) was unstoppable to an almost Drogba-esque level.

And he proved in his spell at Parma last season he can still cut it.

yeh thats true.

But after that he just vanished.

Also it didnt helped him that in the time he started to suck...we managed to from one or maybe the worst juve team in history

Depends what move he gets now.

If he gets a good move now it'll work out for him, as he'll have had an extra six months on big money.

If he left without a decent wage offer or a decent length of contract he'll look foolish for not leaving last summer.

He was an average player who never should have worn this jersey. Average with a moment of heightened form, that's all he ever was and that will be the most of his career. His career highlight will be wearing this jersey but never actually performing in it.

Like I said, he had a brief moment and that was it. That does not make him a good player. Then I suppose if that's the case, Krasic apparently was unstoppable to an almost Nedved-esque level for about 6 months here and another few in Russia.

Drogba has been class for years in all competitions, that really was not a fair comparison Red.

How is it an unfair comparison?

I said for one year he was close to Drogba's level.

I never commented on Amauri's otherwise indifferent career.

I can see how his physical strength could lead to some "certain" comparisons, but I still don't think Drogba's name would pop up on most peoples mind. :D

He was totally dominating defences with his physique, while still scoring plenty and showing very good technique and decent pace.

Can you think of a more apt comparison?

He was a beast of a striker at Palermo and in his first season for us and he had a playing style much similar to Drogba.

The Amauri that I saw then would without a doubt be our best and most complete striker now. Shame it all went to hell.
