As the long summer holidays draw to a close and excitement begins to increase ahead of a fresh new campaign, the Bianconeri academy sides are beginning to get back to the hard graft in Vinovo. And following the Primavera’s early return to pre-season preparations on 13 July, yesterday saw the turn of the Allievi Nazionali, this year under the stewardship of Ivano Della Morte.
It is a deserved promotion for the Turin-born coach, who is ready to step into the dugout and put his four-year Juventus coaching experience to the ultimate test. He will be assisted by goalkeeping coach Guillermo Vignati and fitness coach Andrea Pertusio.
Della Morte can count on a strong squad as he prepares for the long season ahead. This will be comprised of many youngsters born in 1996 – already familiar to him from last year’s Allievi B side -, a handful of bright Giovanissimi Nazionali prospects deemed ready to make the step up and a host of new signings eager to impress.
Yesterday signalled the start of the Allievi’s pre-season preparations, with the players put through fitness tests designed to assess their physical condition. These will be repeated today before the team depart for their pre-season training base of Valle Pesio.
Two exhibition tournaments, to be played in Slovakia and Sanremo, provide the opportunity to work on match fitness and tactical shape ahead of the first championship fixture on 9 September.
