Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has called on his team to deliver a “perfect” performance in tomorrow night’s big match with Juventus.
The 45-year-old believes his side will come up against a Bianconeri outfit brimming with confidence following Tuesday night’s 3-0 dismantling of defending European champions Chelsea.
Speaking ahead of his team’s departure for Turin, Allegri said: “Juventus are doing exceptional things. Thirty-two points is a great haul, they’re top of Serie A, they won the league last season, they’re well organised and have great players.
“They’ll also have their tails up at present, so we’ll need to play a great game from every point of view tomorrow, knowing that we’ll be up against the strongest side in the division. We’ll require a perfect performance in every area, even if perfection does not exist in football.”
The last time both sides met at the San Siro, in February 2012, Serie A supremacy was at stake in a classic top-of-the-table showdown.
But things have changed somewhat in the intervening months and, despite qualifying for the latter stages of the Champions League with a game to spare, Allegri’s men have found points hard to come in the domestic championship.
The Livorno-born tactician, however, is confident his charges will soon start to climb the table.
He continued: “We’ve got plenty of time to move up the league. A good performance tomorrow would restore enthusiasm to everyone, fans included. It’s possible we might make a change from Brussels, although there won’t be many.
“Mexes and Constant are available and trained with the team today. I’m also thinking of a change in midfield and I’ll look for the right inspiration, hoping I don’t get it wrong. Pirlo? We won’t man mark him.”
