and how reliable is Gazetta?
Well, we're talking about the highest selling Italian sports newspaper, based in Milano, very rarely linking Juve to top players (rightfully so, though). When they are claiming that Juve are strongly pushing for Sanchez, I believe we are. It's a whole other story if we will succeed in our attempt.

P.S: But before Sanchez's agent meets Marotta in Turin, he'll meet City representatives and by the time our offer of 30m+player might not be the superior offer anymore.

:agree:

Thanks Alen.

I feel Sanchez would rather stay in Italy though.

So it looks like we are still shooting for one of Pastore/Sanchez. This is good, we really need one of the two to make the jump in quality.

Can't hide my disappointment in not trying harder for Pastore, something about him makes me prefer him over Sanchez.

Yeah, we need someone on the back burners as well...I'd take either of the two, we just need to see which club we can persuade and for what price.

I will say it again...one of these players needs to come with Giovinco. We don't need to spend 15-17m on a Bastos.

So true! I'll take giovinco back as well as a Sanchez or pastore. Gio needs to be around someone able to take the attention on for himself to shine.

Got this from Goal.com, but what the hell:

A Juventus source told Goal.com "€30m for Fernando is just too much for Juve," the source continued. "They will not spend €30m for a player of this quality. They will only spend this type of money for someone like [Alexis] Sanchez.

If we get sanchez, both giovinco and bastos would be bench players

if he got injured, bastos would be a starter

giovinco is useless in build up play, but excellent when counter attacking, so we should get him back for that reason

Interesting point you make, Alen, for me the fact we get top players linked now is more to do with GDS being our sponsor.
Do we really? There was something about Aguero, but that came in other papers first and even Atletico confirmed our interest. Apart from that, we're not really linked to top players the way Inter and especially Milan were linked in the last decade since I follow that paper.

In any case, after following the Italian written media in the last years, maybe even a decade now, I realized that Gazzetta has better links than the other papers. Looks like their journalists get to the good info faster than their colleagues in Rome and Turin.

He said they're not interested in him anymore. There's no links to Sanchez in the English press either. Pastore is being linked heavily though.
I think Man City are included in many rumours because they are Man City, and its a lazy way of saying that many teams would like to sign a certain player.

“It’s true we did track Sanchez, but I think this player is more suited to an Italian club right now”

We won't ever be, it's a Milan paper after all. The boycott of Gazzetta by Juventini was also a factor, they'll start being nicer when their profits are hit. I see a generally more positive outlook from Gazzetta, and they certainly have the best resources, which makes their newspaper all the more galling over the years.

All true.

All I meant was that even in the time when Gazzetta really fucked us up, whenever there was a strong link about Juve and some player popping up in Gazzetta, most of the time it turned out to be true.
It's much more serious paper (talking strictly about transfers) than Tuttosport and CdS. While the former links Juve to everyone from Messi to some Brazilian wonderkid and for CdS it's enough for a player's agent to say that serie A is an option in order to say that Juve/Milan/Inter are seriously after a player, Gazzetta has been more professional when they write about transfers. That professionalism gives them a better hit ratio.
In other words, if they say that Juve did make a big offer for Sanchez, I believe that we did. No matter if they're trying to win the Juventini to start buying their paper again, I don't think GdS will completely invent a rumor like that.

So, Imo, we are trying to buy Alexis and we're willing to go big and make him our top signing. We're ready to pay more than he's worthy. Everything points out to Marotta and Juventus being determined to break the bank for a big signing. Just like in their third year Secco and co. were desperate to make big signings and even overpay for them.
Now, the only question is will they succeed in this.
