That we are getting Sandro, so that Asamoah can move to midfield and get a world class AM?

That the club thought this through before selling Vidal so easily.

That we actually have a plan.

So you decide to single me out?

Nice.

I assume that the transfer market closes this week?

I'm not. You're one of the few who I actually like to speak to about the mercato. I wasn't trying to put you on the spot with the mention.

What do you think if we'll get Sandro + Draxler? Decent? Good? Excellent? I'd say we're weakened.

I'm going to say this.

If it were August 20th, I would be in full on panic mode, highly pissed at Vidal for leaving it so late in the mercato before deciding that he might want to leave, and more pissed at Marotta for letting it happen.

Thankfully we are a month away from that.

Now, with that being said. Up until a week ago, even with Tevez and Pirlo leaving, I thought that this mercato was going swimmingly well. Dybala was purchased well in advance with the notion that Tevez was going to leave, they added Khedira as a free, and as a rotation player I think he would be just fine. Better than fine. Mandzukic and Zaza give the squad more attacking options up front, with the former having that desired grinta and CL experience that will be neededm, while the latter fits the characteristics of a vice-Morata that the club is looking for. Not to mention Rugani, a very very bright defensive prospect coming on board.

And they managed to sell Ogbonna at nearly 85% of what they paid for him.

For Ogbonna, of all people

And now......................................................this.

Vidal is the box-to box out of the trio that the club needs, with Marchisio marshalling the midfield and Pogba pushing even further up.

Now? who knows. Who starts? Khedira? Sturaro? Pereyra? (Who quite honestly, is the one whose game most resembles Vidal, but with more straight line speed)

I know that this is going to be a big loss, and Juve can't replace him with a like for like player, but I don't think they should. My first choice is for Pereyra to start. He has the boundless energy and pace needed to go from goal line to goal line, without the pressure of having to be that pseudo-trequartista.

But you don't replace Vidal. You just don't. But I can't sit here, at this point in the summer, and feel like my Juve world is going to come crashing down. There is still over a month left.

I understand that a part of their identity is lost with Vidal leaving. But part of me is telling me that Juve want to change that identity. They want to shape the squad in the vision that Allegri has, which coincidentally, is a more attacking, free flowing type of football.

Let's not forget that this team, especially in the Champions League, really came into their own when Allegri finally decided to stop blending his ideas with Conte's, and said fuck it, and went for it.

I think, at least that is what I hope, is happening here.

I guess what I am saying, before I speak of anything to do with Draxler and Sandro, is that although the loss of Vidal is going to be felt, there are options to take his place. Much better options than a lot of us think, be it Pereyra, Sturaro, or Khedira.

Now, on to Draxler and Sandro. I have already, well kinda, moved on from Gotze, as much as that sickens me to say. I don't doubt Draxler's talent. I don't doubt his injury history, because prior to this season, there was no injury history. I think a lot of us are so down on Draxler because he isn't the sexy name out there right now. But Draxler has been hyped for the past few years as one of those to lead Germany into a new golden era, and the talent is there.

My concern is whether he would actually fit as a trequartista. That, I do not know. He has played in the middle before, but he has been featured primarily on the wing. But talent is talent, and if Allegri can mold it, then more power to him.

Sandro, although I haven't watched him play that much, or not nearly as much as Draxler, would seem to be a good "opportunity purchase" where he not only fills a need for the present and future, but is in a situation that could be advantageous to whomever club comes calling for him, due to his contract status.

I think that if Juve do get these two young players, this club will end up being excellent by the end of the season. Growing pains? Absolutely, especially when you have as many young players out there. I wouldn't say weakened because the overall talent will be better than it was a year ago, especially with Asamoah coming back, and Coman maturing even more this season.

Different? Oh yeah. Weakened? No, if Draxler and either Sandro or another young LB is on the team

Thanks for the effort.

I really don't see it. One thing's for sure, I'm not as excited as I was a few weeks ago for the new season.

Agree with the fact that we are looking at a more Allegri focussed squad, but I'm honestly not as optimistic about the team's new identity with the likes of Draxler replacing the likes of Vidal.

Yes, Soren, but seeing how last season went and hearing Beppe's comments about how we attract bigger names now, it's kind of sad how we can't aim higher than Draxler, who is a very big question mark. I'd understand such risky moves in the past, but we need more guarantees at this stage.
