I think that it is very well known that i am one of Secco's haters.
But we do have to congratulate him here, for making this happen!
Diego and Melo are too very prestigious players, they are hyped atm and many prestigious clubs are after them.
Signing such prestigious players is not an easy deal. Esp from competitive teams!
Diego wanted him self to join us and preferred us to Bayern and we are indeed overpaying for Melo. But at least, even we a surplus of money, AT LEAST like that, Secco seems capable to finish those deals.
He wasnt capable to finish similar deals up until now. So it is an improvement!!
We cant expect him to make a leap in a day.
He is still far from a decent transfer director. We are still overpaying and sell cheap.
But at least we can use our surplus of prestigious/financial power to sign players, smaller clubs cant! He was much worse than that!
Our club gave the request, the approval and the money to Secco, to finish those deals, and he made them happen! I believe they are hardly his decisions!
Our board considered that Melo is worthy of that cash and Dago wasnt.
So he negociated, tried his best and here we are!
It seems to me that it is a tactical choice, not investing on defense yet again, but i wont blame Secco for that!
Who actually expected from Secco to buy such a highly rated player like Melo, from a direct opponent, on the cheap??
Honestly, i didnt even considered him capable pulling this, not even by paying the full clause!
And he was not bullied from Udine to pay the extra cash, we apparently had after all, or concede any of our youngsters, we believe in!
If only he would learn, to sell players for a decent price and find a way to convince some players, who dont want to go, to do so...
I still believe that he should be replaced asap, from an exp manager, but if the Melo deal is completed, we have to admit the facts and accept the truth as it is!

Well, what makes me furious sometimes is the completely opposite announcement that Blanc has made and what ElKANN stated lately. The first is saying that if we sign melo that would be the last buy. and the other one is saying that our mercato is not close yet.
Finally, who decide at juventus ? I'm eager to know that.
As cronios said it's as clear as the sun light that we need some guys in defence. I'm not totally confident about our backline. I could not bare juventus losing points because the backline wasn't able to keep a result for 15 min ( like what happened last term). We made so far good moves, we have a good depth now but we are waiting for some reflexion about a solid defence
calm down its not like am insulting you're brother or something. Great signing is when you sign a player that was one of the best players in the euros and was wanted by half of europe for 15-17 mil (arshavin) or when you sign one of the best young french players for 15 mil in nasri. Not just those examples but there are many out there thats what i would call great piece of business.
You're saying that the market is inflated right now then there can always be next season. Look at both United and Milan, they have plenty of $$ from selling their stars but they're not rushing into the market unless a reasonable price emerge for one of their targets or they won't spend.
All what am saying is that there is no achievement here, we had the money and we've spend it to the Max. Anyone in Secco's position could have done it.
No, thats just being too simpleminded. its for a much simpler reasons, its based on the conditions these players left for. Arshavin was clawing to get out of Zenit, and was even threatening to sit out his contract for the 8-9 months needed or whatever. Zenit tried to sell him for 20-25m for a quite, adamant about it, but at the end, had to comprise to less because they were forced to. They didnt have any leverage, would lose out on keeping him and selling him this summer, because he would be even cheaper.
Nasri not as extreme but similar ball park, Marseille cant demand alot for even though a talented player, a player who was adamant he was to leave to a top club, and had an average and injury prone season. If it was the season before, where he was more or less best player in the league (whole of europe going gaga for him) after Malouda, debuting in the NT as a big starlet and was willing to stay and wasnt demanding anything, then Marseille would have gotten perhaps 10m more for him, at most.
Its not just simply great player/talent/big NT, = high cost, lots of factors and conditions that go with it to influence the valuations. Viola arent desperat to sell, Melo isnt demanding shit and isnt in any position to do so (even if he flirted with Inter, then us) after they renewed his contract and raised his salary (which they had promised). Which they did deliberately to strengthen their odds for better return and to maximise his value (plus his profile boosting confed cup performance), 25m release clause, or nothing (any club going for him would have faced the same steadfast demand). And they have the leverage enough to demand it, as simple as that.

Not convinced sorry, a player like Ramires is a starter for the brazilian NT should any team pay 20+ mil euros for him just for that reason. What about Baptista he's been playing for the brazilian NT since he was 20 so should any team pay that sort of money for the guy. Personaly i believe 25 mil euros figures should be paid for exceptionally talented players (doesn't matter if they're superstars).
I've been watching fiorentina's games and i remember saying earlly last season that Melo was a quality player (and he is) but he's not worth that sort of money.

Juventus general director Jean-Claude Blanc is confident that the Old Lady have reduced the gap between themselves and Inter this summer.
The outfit have signed Fabio Cannavaro from Real Madrid and Werder Bremen star Diego, while they are close to landing Felipe Melo of Fiorentina.
“We are giving boss Ciro Ferrara a competitive squad,” said the Frenchman. “The season will be a tough one, but Juventus’ DNA includes the ability to never give up.
“I won’t make any predictions or announcements as we’ll define our objectives for the season with the team.
“So far we have shown that we can plan for the future and make important signings, but now we’ll have to see what happens on the pitch.”
When asked how close the club were to landing Brazilian midfielder Melo, Blanc remained cautious.
“Today Brazil are represented in our squad by Diego and Amauri,” he added. “But if we make one more signing then our summer spending will be over.”
Ferrara, even without the official capture of Melo yet, has welcomed the squad with open arms after his summer appointment.
“Juventus have moved well on the market by signing a great player like Diego,” explained the man who took temporary charge of the team after the dismissal of Claudio Ranieri last term.
“A great deal of effort has been put in to get closer to Inter,” he added. “I have great responsibility, but that is only normal for a boss of Juventus.”

just saw a short interview with secco talking about transfers.
he said if the melo transfer goes through they will have spent over this years transfer budget but the bod and the ownership authorized them do so.
as soon as the melo transfer is completed no new signings are projected. i think he means we won't buy as long as we don't sell for the same amount or more.
