I picked out the points: We had champions so rebuilding should be easier. Buffon, DP, Treze, Neddy, Camo, Chiellini, Zanetti were listed. However, Zanetti is not what you call world-class or legend. Nedved is not the player he was before the relegation. Similarly, Camo played less than half of both seasons and Chiellini was not a champion when we first returned. Del Piero is showing his age this season.
Then you became disillusioned after the first transfer season. Quite rightly, it was a very poor one. You mentioned the players involved in this transfer window throughout so I can conclude that your main problem with the board is with this incident.
You mentioned that there was never a plan of replacing the champions with other champions or youngsters of similar potential. Is that true? We had enough champions in the centre midfield. Nedved's replacement is coming. Chiellini covered one of the centre-back spot. Amauri and Iaquinta cover the striker spot. A 4-man strike-force is just nice for a team which plays 2 strikers. Manninger is a reliable back-up to Buffon. Thus the only spot that needs to be upgraded is the right-back, centre-back and right-winger role(If Camo is injured again). The left-back position can be taken up by Criscito or De Ceglie. Molinaro is no Zambrotta but he is good defensively and doesn't disappoint when playing against top teams. The left-backs of the other top teams(bar the EPL ones) are either strong in attack or strong in defence only, so it is not a problem that only we face. 4 players will only take 2 seasons to obtain by your calculation, and then we have a squad that can challenge on all fronts instead of just 1. The defence will be fixed. The problems were not apparent last season.
What do you mean by youngsters of similar potential? If they are the likes of Diego and Zapata, then they are established stars, no different from Alonso or Gallas. Since you said we have talented youngsters, why not put your trust in them instead of buying "champions" thus stifling their development. This is the new trend, which elevates the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona above all other top teams. Give a few years and the likes of Ekdal and Iago will be good enough to be capable subs while Marchisio and Giovinco become regulars.
What has Tiago being not willing to go be a problem with the board. A contract is signed and if he does not want to rescind it there is nothing that can be done. You should have heard of first season syndromes and Tiago is consistently among the best players in the national team so it is not a problem of his ability but why he did not show that with us. I give it to you that Secco cannot sell his players well.
I think Mellberg's case and Palladino and Giovinco's poor performance as a striker needs no more explanation. Whenever these 2 play up front, we never look capable of scoring from anything except set-pieces. Alonso's transfer has already been proven to be next to impossible.
"When Treze, DP and Iaquinta retire and Giovinco, Lanza, Palla will be proved bad players. Then we ought to make a move for a new forward. Our priorities until there was try and fix our ACTUAL problems we face now and until then."
This is what I call bad planning. By that time, no world-class strikers may be available or will be available for probably 50million and there goes your 2 players per season plan. Besides, are you sure the free transfer players will join us, and will they be of the same quality as Mellberg and Sali?
You need to acknowledge the quality of the players better. Poulsen is one of the best DMs in the world. He is not inferior to Alonso and I think, better than Zanetti in terms of prestige. He is not a quality upgrade because our centre midfield is capable of competing with the best already, as shown by the match against Chelsea. Calling him cheap and inferior is not good. Similarly, Grygera is among the best right-backs in the Dutch league and a starter for the Czech Republic so calling him a reject is disrespectful.
Your 5-year plan has a few problems. Zanetti, Nedved and Camo are either not playing often or no longer at the top of their game so you are left with 4+4=8. DP isn't playing as well as last year and Trezeguet was out for 3 months so I take away 1 which leaves us with 7. In addition 45 million a year is wow, a lot of money. We did not even spend close to that last year and in the previous year, the funds came from selling players too. World-class players do not cost 22.5m each like Amauri. You cannot get Villa, Ribery, or Daniel Alves with this money. An "unwanted" good player like Alonso costs 20million already. If we stay with the subs that we have last year, I can guarantee we will throw away points if any of the starter is injured.
