I've read it a number of times (not the gazzetta).

Carlo Nesti posts great (accurate) articles on Juve's transfer speculation. He was right all summer.

He claims that Juventus could have picked up Huntelaar on a free bid in the summer but would have had to compete with numerous squads that were interested. In other words Juve paid (not sure what) to Ajax for the forward but the contract states he will begin after Huntelaar finishes the last season of his current contract (June 2008). They paid little according to speculation but that was good enough because Ajax was losing him for nothing.

He stated many times he had no intention of staying therefore anything they could get was good enough. Since then other clubs expressed interest and Ajax brushed them aside claiming Huntelaar has already been promissed to another club...

The contract rumour surely is BS, Huntelaar joined Ajax in january 2005 and he signed a contract for 4,5 years so it means his contract would expire in the sumer of 2009 and not next summer as gsol stated.

My understanding is that he is arriving in June and that he is not renewing his contract with Ajax. If his contract ran to 2010 why would his renewal be in question now.

In any case these are rumours. I trust it to an extent because this Nesti guy has been accurate about a lot.

by the way. no one actually has 100% reliable transfer sources.

everyone all over all web forums just talk up the names they read on goal.com and now my source is bs...

keep thinking Lampard and Drogba are coming, just like Milito in the summer.

i doubt it. they just extended trezeguet and del piero's contracts and are looking into extending palladino's. having no intention of selling giovinco, how many striker do you think the board want in their plan for juve?

He is definitely gone as of this summer and has all but been "promissed to Juve".

There is one twist. If Ajax's coach gets named for Chelsea he may try to lure him.
