Angelo Alessio celebrated his final game on the touchline at Juventus Stadium by steering the Bianconeri to a comprehensive 3-0 success over inter-city rivals Torino.
With Antonio Conte due to reclaim his place in the dugout after Alessio leads the side into battle against Shakhtar Donetsk, the assistant manager confessed that he was looking forward to the 43-year-old’s return.
Analysing the game, Alessio said: “It wasn’t easy to play against such a well-organised side. We had a few difficulties in the first twenty minutes and the game changed following the sending off, an unquestionable decision. Thank goodness Giaccherini didn’t have his foot on the ground, otherwise he would have hurt himself.”
“The change in formation? We didn’t feel it was worth risking Chiellini and preferred to go with the 4-3-3 used on many occasions last year. But our system is 3-5-2 and we’ll use that in Donetsk, where Chiellini will come back into the fold. Antonio will be back on Sunday, I can’t wait for him to return and take his place on the bench.”
