Its Alessandro fucking Matri, for crying out loud.

From some of the posts in this thread you'd think we sold a 24 year old Bobo Vieri or a Ravanelli in his prime. Jesus christ, Matri is the epitome of average.

We have Tevez and Llorente now, on to bigger and better things.

As Carmine Lupertazzi says to Jonny Sack in The Sopranos ''now get the fuck over it''.

What if Llorente explodes and becomes a integral part of the team? Remember Matri was benched by Boriello and the only thing that guys could score was STDs. Even last season there was nothing shown by Conte that suggested that he highly rated Matri or Quag. Both of them were treated like bit part players. You seem to forget that Conte preferred playing Vucinic and Giovinco together for a good part of the season even with the natural CF dusting the benches. Tevez is better than both of them down the middle and if Llorente flops we'll see Tevez play as the CF. Also, Quag had his best time at Juve when he partnered Capitano in his first six months here. So worse case scenario we have Quag and Tevez playing which is at least on par with the Vuci+Giovinco partnership. I'd have been glad if Giovinco was sold, but that was never going to happen. One of Matri and Quag had to go and we sold the one who brought in the most $$$. That said, I'm sorry to see to sad :dule:

People do realise that they can still post pictures of Federica's ass even with Matri gone. It's not like she's leaving the internet :shifty:
Good post, but what can I say? I just really rate Matri. I'm a fan of the type of striker he is and I just love the guy. His goals and assists stats aren't bad at all, they're actually very good, but even those who only look at such numbers, are missing out on a key point of what makes him such a great striker: his positioning and reading of the game. Milan have got themselves a very good striker, and I think this season will prove it. Just hope this sale won't come back to haunt us, even though I'm hoping he'll do well at the San Siro.

Rationally, I can see that it's a good deal from a financial point of view, but I really wish we had offloaded Quag or Giovinco instead. However, the best offer that came in was for Matri, so he was the one that had to go.

Love how people automatically give Llorente credit for being better than Matri. Llorente has it all to prove, at this point.

What if we sign a youngster as a 5th choice striker that scores just as many goals?

Will people still be heart broken?

Whether a tactical mistake or not..or strengthening a rival or not...you simply just don't pass up 12m for a guy that's already peaked his career.

Time for an upgrade. Nothing wrong with this sale. 12m is a lot and can be used now or in winter.

Furthermore we paid way too much for him.
I'd rather have youngsters playing regularly somewhere, but who do you have in mind? I agree with you, it was a great sale that eventually needed to happen. I obviously like Matri too.

Us overpaying for him has been talked to death. It was a January purchase with an injury crisis on our hands and at a point in time where we were in no position to attract players to the club. Cagliari knew this and milked us for every penny possible, do not blame the player for that.

I can't speak for any other person than myself, but I for one wouldn't.

Would like to compliment TeamQuag's undisputed leader @baggio for how he's conducted himself after the Matri-sale.
Thanks bro. I am genuinely saddened by this sale coz it's never nice to see a team player leave. And Matri was exactly that. Kept his head down and did his job everytime he was called upon. It was never about one player vs the other for me either, which is why I don't see it as a personal victory or of one team over another. I share your sense of loss but I hope you feel better about the fact that it's probably good for his career, and most importantly, he is happy to be reunited with his old coach who perhaps will rate him higher than Conte and give him some much needed continuity.

Forza Ale. Give it time, you'll find your bearings again.

:(

Was never a fan of his, but kinda sucks to hear him refer to Mialn as 'we'.
It really does suck to see him in those colours. He's been integral to our cause and I think as fans we get territorial about players who have done a fair job over the course of their time playing at a club we support. It truly is sad to see him go to Milan, I'd have rather we sold him abroad if we had to.

Tevez alone is better than Llorente + Vucinic + Gio + Quag

Regardless of whether Llorente does well for us or not, he is still a far superior footballer than Matri.

Llorente better not flop, cause if he does we'll have no real CF. From a technical standpoint, it's a very poor sale (which is also how Conte sees it, confirmed at today's press conference).
This is exactly why Quag should have been sold instead.
