Matri makes more sense for us than Quag. He's a true CF, a bigger player than Quag, who can sub in for Llorente, for which we have no sub. He moves well without the ball. He is good in a counter attack style, which adds versatility to our play. He is younger and unselfish. He has good work rate and doesn't complain.

I fucking love you MikeM. I wish you could tuck me in at night and whisper all that stuff that you write directly into my ear :D

And @baggio I appreciate Quag and what he's done, but we have other players that are similar, but as MikeM correctly pointed out, if we let Matri go, we have no real substitute for Llorente.
Bro, honestly, I'd be happy if both stayed or both left to make something of their careers, because they both deserve to play a bit more than they would if they stayed. In my personal estimate, I think Quag is the more adaptable player because he has a a more varied skill set and if I had to choose, I would pick him. My bias aside, I don't think Llorente and Matri are like for like players anyway. Matri is perhaps also the more static of the two players and I don't think he figures high on Conte's list either. But having said that, I'm not against Matri in anyway whatsoever. Unlike some people, I'd be really sorry to see him go to a Milanese club, for instance.

He's a better sub than Quag IMO. I think it's possible that Quag is a better starter (more natural talent, flair, creativity, finishing) than Matri but if he's your starter, your ambitions are not huge. I like Quag but if I had to choose, I pick Matri.
This.

+rep for that my friend.

so would i but i see the logic behind quag.

in games where your players are being crushed it's nice to have a player that can create something out of nothing. quag's flair makes up for his weaknesses elsewhere.

We can always rely on MikeM to spit that real shit on these boards

All that needs to be said really. I don't hate Quag or think he's a terrible player, but if we are looking for a good bench option to use if Llorente is injured or out of form, Matri is clearly the one player that should be kept in the squad due to his characteristics as an out and out CF.

Unlike a certain someone who has a very strong character.

:baggio:
Quag has only said positive things in the media, and himself has only spoken good words for Juventus and his teammates. His tiff with Alessio was a more personal matter by which Alessio's flawed judgement came into question. Quag overstepped the line no doubt, but Alessio was mishandling things at a critical time; Quag was certainly a little petulant but the fact he has a resolute and strong character shouldn't be overlooked and condemned entirely. That transgression aside he's been a model player for Juve, and has clocked in the shifts when the team needed it, and put in some pretty good performances in less than perfect circumstances. But no, this illogical hate bubbles along..

If Quag has one thing completely over Matri, it is that Quag has bundles of self belief, whereas Matri has sadly proven himself to be a little mentally fragile.
