Way too unfair on him. What do you guys expect if he plays one game a month? Its not that easy to play like that especially when you're a striker. His movement was good, but Giovinco isolated him, going for goal himself, and not playing off him as the game wore on. If Matri was given the chances Gio had, we'd have won this game tonight.
He's a terrible footballer, end of story.

Thought he had a good game, most of these "easy chances" which Giovinco missed were from Matri holding up the ball or winning flick ons.

He also was in very good unmarked positions on a few crosses which were just taken away by their defender (Okore?)

Suffered because of Giovinco
He is to some extent.

For some reason, Juve seem determined to keep Giovinco very central, while the other striker - Matri in this case - is the one expected to move more to work the channels and offer short to get the ball.

Surely Giovinco is the one who should be floating around and Matri should be more fixed in the middle as a focal point?

That's not a criticism of Giovinco.

I just think Juve's coaches managed to use both players tonight in a way that doesn't suit either of them.

Sell him. And no, I don't want to sell him to the club that makes the best offer. I want to sell him to a fucking club in eastern Russia. Some shitty club there the weather is -20 degrees and where you won't understand a shit of what the coach says. FFS, how can a player be this bad?!

Don't hate - it's just his level of ability - not his fault.

It's outrageous that Conte would start him in a must win UCL game though.

Absolutely agreed. I'm still baffled by Conte's constant use of Giovinco in the centre where he's always receive balls with his back to opposition goal.

In a 3-5-2, Giovinco is useless unless brought in against tired defenders or when we shift to play the counter after going 2 or 3 up.

I have been questioning this all season, it makes no sense at all and it is really annoying me.

I agree with this. I can usually find a fault if he doesn't really perform well, because he has a habit of missing some easy chances, but I didn't think the same yesterday.

I don't think there's a resolution to the rotation unless Juve purchases a forward of obviously quality above Matri and Quagliarella.
