Thought he had a good game, most of these "easy chances" which Giovinco missed were from Matri holding up the ball or winning flick ons.

He also was in very good unmarked positions on a few crosses which were just taken away by their defender (Okore?)

Same thing happened against Napoli. And its really unfair to expect much more from a player whose getting no continuity whatsoever.
How much does he need to play before he even looks remotely able to score? And im not talkin about that scuffed shot vs roma.

Suffered because of Giovinco.

Surprise surprise.
At this level a strikers who's main job is too score shouldn't be effected. Did Giovinco cause him to completely mis-trap Pirlo's overhead pass vs Napoli?

Like it or not, he's our best goal scorer. He's too isolated when partnered with Giovinco, as was Quagliarella. It's not a coincidence he had his best performances for us when partnered with Mirko.

And hey, we're talking about a guy who didn't have the continuity Giovinco had so far.

Go away.

The same question could be asked of Gio whose had much more continuity and about 476 chances on goal more than Matri. This guy is the same player who scored 10 classic CF goals before being inexplicably benched last season. You can't expect him to score when he's on edge the whole time. It's really unfair. Give him 5 games on the trot no matter what, and you'll see the difference between a Gio type CF and Matri type. It's very unfortunate, the situation hr finds himself in. I cant believe how opinions change around here every match day.

Can't really think of any chances he had, they all seemed to fall to Giovinco. He was in the right areas but the defenders always toed the ball away as it came in.

Way too unfair on him. What do you guys expect if he plays one game a month? Its not that easy to play like that especially when you're a striker. His movement was good, but Giovinco isolated him, going for goal himself, and not playing off him as the game wore on. If Matri was given the chances Gio had, we'd have won this game tonight.
