Tuttosport Interview:

“To be honest I have yet to fully realise how big Juventus are as a club, but they are certainly huge.

“I am going through a magical moment: the goal against Inter, the enthusiasm of the fans. But I still have to fully understand what it means to be the centre-forward of such a big club.

“I am someone who lives one day at a time, so I am trying not to live too much in the clouds, but I always set myself objectives and that of playing at the highest level was one of the objectives I set when I first started to play football.

“There is Lecce up next and I am thinking about that game. We'll need maximum concentration for it.

“We have to forget about Inter and think about Sunday. Actually I am thinking about training tomorrow. I told you that I take one step at a time, no?”

---------------------------------------------------------

"Distracted intercostal" injury should be cleared by Lecce trip. He said he didn't get it from a knock from Burdisso/Ranocchia, but rather pulled it when twisting/turning.

It's not easy to go to a big team in turmoil where so much is expected of you and step up to the plate the way Matri has. He is a man of great heart and determination, and I'm already a fan of his. I really hope he becomes a legend here. Today, football is filled with players who care more about their pockets than they do the game, but not this guy. You can just tell that he's playing for the love and respect he has for football and Juventus, and I wish him the best for that.
I don't think that this can be overstated enough. Sometimes, there actually is a benefit of having a juventus team that is primarily Italian. juventus is one of the three or four teams that the majority of Italian kids want to play for when they grow up. Now, let me state, that I don't care if the team is comprised full of italians, africans, asians, americans, brazilians.................that doesn't matter to me.

As long as the team is quality.

But you will notice though, that the italian players who come to Juve, those who grow up watching them on TV and reading about them in the newspapers every single day, "get it", as far as what it means to be a part of this club.

I don't doubt them when they say that it really is a dream for them to play there. it makes perfect sense.

I completely agree, although I probably would have been shot down for saying it.

As you say, they have to be quality though, and we don't quite have that. So we compliment. This was the idea of the club set out post-Farsopoli, we've fucked it up for long enough and need to make the right purchases from now on.

I hope he never leaves Juve. He made such an impact on Juve's game after coming that I find it incredible.

I just hope that Juventus buys him at the end of the season due to the number of all the strikers in Juve :delpiero:

Whilst growing up it is all about playing for the big boys and getting into the national squad. Look at Quagliarella and how much it meant to him when Italy was knocked out of the 2010 world cup.

And I completely agree with your point.

Keep up the good work Matri, keep proving me wrong. :D It's situations like this when I love to be wrong, I was questioning why Juve went for Matri.

For some reason the Al Jazeera analysts were convinced Matri has 4 goals in 3 games. Apparently, he had scored one against Palermo but no one else knew about it.

Well, he should've scored that 1-on-1 with Sirigu. Gotta appreciate his positioning and work-rate though, the work of a great striker.
